If you were me daily driving a 08 V8 that calls for 91... Would you spend the extra 10$ every time you go to the pump to put 91 in it or after almost 20 years can I get away with some 87 at least every other fill?
I haven't noticed a difference in performance like some suggest youll see and i don't want the beast to blow up on me.
Thoughts?

owners manual says use 91.

Use 91.

gentle granny driving around town you probably won’t notice anything. But under any sort of load (accel, uphill, street racing, towing) you’ll notice a difference and have major ignition timing pull trying to reduce the severe pre-ignition occurring.

Use 91. Or buy an Exploder.

Yeah... I am not the brightest I just fell in love with the AWD and V8 on accident when I test drove it and accidentally went 0-40 just touching the gas... however I'm not against spending the extra 10$, I am just very used to driving old ****ty cars where it would literally be a waste of money to put premium gas in it... Just so everyone knows I am putting 91 in it and I have been able to keep my netflix, so far XD I appreicate all you guys' responses.

I get your point. When I bought it I got it just to have an SUV to be a better dad for my newborn son, but i've since fallen in love with the thing and want to keep it around as long as I possibly can. Honestly, the 91 isnt that much more like you guys have said, 40 cents more a gallon 26 gallon tank, is only like $10 more a fillup, which is very doable for me. I'm just used to driving old ****ty cars, give me a chance to change! XD thanks for the reply.

If things are that tight I'd start with canceling a subscription or two, or buying a couple less coffees, before risking an engine failure. Priorities, man. You're driving a rare beast (I note you have lockers all round) so show it at least a modicum of love.

That's why i'm asking. I got lucky, i spent 4 grand on what i thought was an average SUV for my at the time newborn to ride in, but have fallen in love with the beast and want to treat it right. Any other car i bought for 4 grand thats 20 years old I would put 87 in it and let it misfire til it blows up, but liek you said i want to show the rare beast some love. have been putting 91 in it and havent had to cancel my netflix just yet ;)
