Maybe I'm a doofus, not really sure but I am on my 4th Touareg now with picking up a 2014 TDI R-Line this week. I have now had 3 TDIs and the infamous original '04 V8 Air. I had a Toyota for a while after the '04. Fun car to drive with room for the wifey and three dogs, or several bikes and camping gear.
So far the R-Line is not much different than the 2012 TDI Sport I had, a few creature comforts, leather, folding mirrors and sunroof, bigger wheels... It does seem to keep out road and wind noise a lot better.
Main downside is 19 hours in, I got a speeding ticket. Wasn't really speeding, but was going over the limit. I think I got singled out since I didn't have plates on... fail... I have the radar detector reinstalled now (1 freakin' day without it and I get a ticket...).
