Chain rattle more often than not on cold start, no noise at idle. Serviced at 15k km intervals.

Hello. I am new to your forum, I have an Audi Q7 3.0 TDI (CATA) 2011. As they explained to me, 4 chains are installed on the CATA engine, and the measurement is made according to the position of the cams (parameters IDE00394, IDE00395). The measurement is made on a warm engine at idle and at 2500 rpm. I have the following parameters: At idle IDE00394 = 600.89 , IDE00395 = 686.12 IDE00182= -0.86 . At 2500 rpm - IDE00394 = 600.86 , IDE00395=686.18 , IDE00182= -0.9. Mileage by car 217,000 km. They explained to me that these are bad parameters and the upper chain tensioners need to be replaced. But at the same time, there are no extraneous circuit noises and errors. I propose to share the parameters IDE00394 and IDE00395 who has a CATA engine.

Sorry for my english, i use google translate.

@VaNSqL - Welcome to the forum.
Please read post #1 and provide your details according to that format and those measuring blocks if you want to be added to this table. If you'd like to start your own topic with more measuring blocks and different rpm readings (such as 2500), that's great. I'm compiling data based on specific parameters, and deviating from that is useless for my purpose.

I'd also suggest that you list descriptions of your MVBs not just the numerical value so that we can see what you're measuring, etc.... not all of us have the same engine code, so it's possible that there will be differences between our MVBs, etc.

So you have no chain rattle and a very low adaptation value.... what's making anyone think that you need to service the drive? Which parameters are "they" saying are out of spec?

I was given information that there are 4 circuits on my engine (CATA), and you can indirectly check their stretching by the parameters (IDE00394 Camshaft position: start of phase window , IDE00395 Camshaft position: end of phase window ). The normal value is 607.1 and 691.8. Even if I have a UDS engine control unit. This is an analogue of the CASA engine. There is no way to check the parameters with the same motor in the place where I live. CATA Clean Diesel engines were installed only on cars for the USA. That's why I turned to you on the forum.

Perhaps their guesses on my engine are not correct. And approximate chain stretch can be determined as on engines with two chains. (as in CRCA). And so I ask forum users who have a CATA Clean Diesel engine to share the parameters IDE00394 Camshaft position: start of phase window and
IDE00395 Camshaft position: end of phase window, what to compare with mine.

Yes, your CATA does have 4 chains vs the 2nd gen engines with only two.
What I'm suggesting that you take into consideration is the other CATA users who have already reported values as seen in our chart, along with the fact that you don't have any indicators of issues (aka chain noise). You have the very lowest of the values in our "tracking" thus far... so if your engine is about the blow up, the rest of us are also all driving timebombs!

Who "gave you" this information?
