I believe that's where the descriptions would be pulled from.... so you may need to submit controller channel maps to VCDS as they ask users to contribute to their information in order to document everything properly. You can also see this if you have any saved autoscan results as it should list the label files (or the lack if them).

I emailed Andy for some clarification.

Hello Jason,

The screen shot appears to be from a UDS protocol gasoline 4-cylinder
but your TDI should use the older CAN protocol with an EDC similar to
the one in this scan:

https://forums.ross-tech.com/index.php?threads/13457/

The complete VCDS Auto-Scan from this vehicle would be very helpful.

If it uses the CAN protocol we may need to review the measuring block
function control module map to see if any cam/crank/timing groups exist.
In that case this page should be helpful:

Ross-Tech: VCDS Tour - Controller Channels Map

Best Regards,
Dana

I will send a full scan to them later today. See what's happening.

Synthetic Ravenol Oil 507.00 every 10K miles, every single oil change. No short changes, no extended changes. I was doing my own oil changes starting around 80K miles.

117,XXX miles
Rattle on dead cold starts 1-2 seconds then gone. Has been there forever.
No idea what adaptation value or where I would find it for this. I was lucky to find that in 5 minutes of scrolling through that monster list of possible logged measurements.

Engine was at full operating temp and idling. 53 degrees out.

Guys, if you only list partial information, it doesn't tell us much.
Need to know current milage.
Need to know adaptation value.
Need to know if you have rattle/noise.

Rattles for 1-2 seconds when cold, less when recently started. It has not worsened appreciably since we bought it about a year ago. My wife has only put about 11K miles on it.

I pick my car up from the shop today or tomorrow. Mine definitely has a ~.25-.5 second rattle on turnover. 2016 TDI / 33K miles
On cold starts, you'll get that.... I wouldn't sweat it.
If it keeps up after the first initial few seconds, then I'd start paying attention to it and possibly checking the phase position more frequently. Either way, you've got lots of dieselgate warranty left over, so no need to stress over it much at this point.

agreed! And yeah it’s less than a half a second, I’ve never heard the sound continue. And the cars in-service was 5/2019 so my factory PT goes to 5/2029 + 100K and dieselgate to 5/2029 + 120K. Crazy amount of factory warranty on this 6 year old beast.

I chose it because someone on here said “buy the best/newest Touareg with the most warranty you can afford.” Also, White over Terra Cotta TDI Exec and 21” Mallories😛

sorry, back to the program...
