I have had the emergency braking trigger a few times now for no reason, three of the times were in a tunnel with no cars around. I had it checked by the dealer and they found some fault codes. It is a known issue and VW are working on a software update for it.

We have had a few problems with our emergency brake system as well.
Sensors going off for no apparent reason (nothing near the car), alert of screen ‘depress brake’ (again nothing near the car), warning message saying ACC and front brake assist not working, check front sensors andthe car has also slammed on the brakes for no apparent reason- absolutely nothing near us. The brakes were applied so hard that we starting sliding (slightly wet road at the time), my bag went flying off the seat and both my 4yo and myself had a sore neck.
VW can’t find anything wrong- nothing in the diagnostics or log history ?
My husband has asked that they escalate this to VW Australia. There was no mention of this being a known fault, so I’ll be interested to hear back from VW Australia.

Which variant do you have, launch edition, standard or premium? I hope you get it resolved.

My Launch model has triggered a few times when exiting a steep drive in reverse, for no apparent reason, but nothing whilst out on the road luckily.
I read that some Q7 owners in the States have had similar experiences to those described above. Perhaps it's a wider issue than VW?

No mate, nothing thus far.

Did trying simulating a nap and it did shout & scream, then brake check and go into panic mode.

I too have Launch Edition. Emergency Brake comes on a few times, at same spot where the road winds round to the right and there is a car parked on the road. I am in control but system obviously thinks I am heading towards parked car.
Also coming out of Legacy Way Tunnel in Brisbane the ACC System shuts down with warning symbols ect and then comes back on a few Kms down the road. A mate who has Launch Edition as well I spoke to drives that way most days and says his does it each time at the same spot. Obviously some external influence which shuts system down (Not a great experience) It is very close to RBH Hospital so not sure if they have some sort of Jamming system to protect their equipment. ? Any one else had this happen.

I had my ACC cameras etc recalibrated recently and unfortunately it's no better mainly when towing our caravan.
I have to turn the emergency assist and lane assist off in order to drive the car with the van attached.
For some reason it constantly thinks I'm asleep at the wheel and tries to stop the car when I'm towing and the lane assist is a pain as you tend to need a bit more of the road when towing, especially on W.A's crappy country roads.
(Does anyone know how it works out you're asleep - turning the wheel slightly will cancel it, but it's still a pain when towing).
Mine has always been super sensitive to people turning right, for example if someone is in the right turn lane my car will try to brake even though the lane in front in clear. The left seems fine through, so I can't figure that out.
I did also have this problem with my old 7P (right turn sensitivity) and it could never be solved, so I guess it's just the way the system works.
Hopefully WV will keep working on the software. Otherwise I do love the ACC, I'd never have a car without it now.
It does work well on long straight roads when towing, I just set the distance to maximum and concentrate on the steering without having to worry about getting pinged.
I was also told that some other car's ACC systems will "interfere" with the VW system and cause it to shut down and re-set. I suspect the problem people are having in the tunnel above is to do with some sort of interference (A speed camera perhaps?). I also get random shutdowns but not in the same place as I assume it's another car travelling toward me.

on my 7P, when I have the ACC set and the car in front is leaving a multi lane freeway (indicates to pull into thet left exit lane and actually enters that off-ramp), the R Line will occasionally slam the brakes on, even tho' the lane departing car is clear (ahead of me). it is a bit unsettling to say the least.

When the caravan is attached, I only run the ACC when avge speed is consistent

Me too. Thought it was cause one of the sensors needs adjusting. Glad to know I'm not alone...
