Odd and kinda cool:

After having the Touareg setting in the garage, I thought the battery was dead.

-No door handles would open.
-Keyfob did not work (though was transmitting and had new batteries)
-Popped the door key cover and unlocked with key (still no life)
-Tapped the start button and all was good and remote worked afterwards

It seems after a certain amount of days or voltage drop , the Touareg shuts down all modules and goes in to deep sleep.

Did I miss this in the manual? :surprise:

Ok for sure it is a battery level sensor. Just starting that day (above) not using the vehicle, then 2-3 days later, back in deep sleep. So voltage dependent.

But it is some kind of self-preservation deep sleep mode? Kind of cool.
