Hi all.

I am thinking of purchasing a 2013 V6 TDI 4Motion Touareg.

Would someone out there please be able to let me know the good and bad about this model? Things to watch out for, servicing costs etc etc.

Cheers

Hi Paul
The T3 has been a really good car overall I spoke to a dealer the other day his words were the T3 has been done so well people have no need to trade on to the current model.
If you give some detail of the car here chances are someone may know the car personally and be able to give some info good luck on your purchase

Paul, are you buying private or through a dealer? If a VW dealer, ask to include additional/or an extended warranty for your protection against anything major? How many kms and owners?

I would ask for the service history for the car, just to give comfort there have been no major or ongoing repairs/problems. I have 60,000 kms on my 2014 V6 TDI and only ever had a few minor adjustments as new.

Could also ask (if through a dealer) for a 2-3 year capped price service plan (if not already providing).

Cheers Paul.
Thanks for the quick replies.

The car has just over 20,000kms on it. And I would be the second owner. It has only had 2 services, according to book.

I am purchasing through a dealer and looked at the option of purchasing extended warranty with Alphera. They say it is with Alliance.

How much are services?

30K around $530, 45K around $625, 60K is a biggies $1150 and then it goes back to $500-600s (as a guide).

20,000 kms is just run in - if no major problems or accidents it would seem to be a good car to buy. Assuming price is good?

I am hoping to get it for mid 50k. Seems like a pretty good deal to me..

I would think so too. Best of luck on the negotiations.

Cheers Paul.
They are susceptible to dust ingress around the lower part of the rear doors.
That being said, I love my My13 more than any other car I have owned.

Good point from Tim, and I didn't forget the rear door dust ingress, it was more a brief response to any major faults. I'm still working with VW Australia on this one... although the dust seems to restrict itself to only around the rear door sill area (and for me it's minor, but it's noticeable when the rest of the car is perfectly dust proofed).

And like Tim, I love my MY14 Touareg. Cheers Paul.
The only problem I had was with the AdBlue system, as have many people. Mine was fully covered by warrant.
That would be the only problem I'd have checked before purchase. No real problems other than that. Love it.
Thanks for all the replies guys.

I ended up being effed over by the dealer that I wanted to purchase from.

I made an offer and was happy to pay a deposit, it was only $2000 under their asking price, and they sold it from under my nose....

Least to say I am not happy.
Hi Paul
Just saw this thread. I presume you are in Oz?!

You will see a previous thread regarding Adblue. We don't have Adblue in the 2013 model in Australia.

My 2013 4xMotion is the 4th lease car I have had. The previous was a HSV Clubsport. I will be buying my Treg out in a week or two and this will be the first time I have done this. That possibly goes someway at answering your question.

Bugger about the recent experience. It was obviously meant to be... Keep looking and good luck.

Hi Dultim8, was it the white one that had done 20698 km?
