Just FWIW, the key FOB can't be coded to another Touareg, it should go to the new owners.

I bought a key on eBay for my T3, and my VW dealership was unable to code it to my Treg. In fact my Treg locked them out in their service bay for an hour, they were unable to get back in. You must order one that is specifically coded by ordering it. i had to send it back and get a refund.

If it was possible to have a key coded locally I would buy that key.

+1 on the Key fob. I had to special order one and the dealer told me it had to come from Germany with my specific vehicle coded to it. Then it had to be programmed by the dealer with both the other keys at the same time. So I don't think it can be used for anther car either. But I'd check with local dealer to make sure.

that is not my understanding---the way the dealer explained it to me was that the plastic key had to be custom cut----so that will not work for another car, but that the key FOB unit could be reprogramed at the dealer???

Still have the rugs and add blue and the LED lic plate lights---- they reall change to look at night.

you could be right about it having to come from Germany and only work on the specific car that the german's code it for---to be clear i really don't know, and the dealer is so full of **** I really don't know what to say.I can just repeat what they told me, which in many cases was not accurate.
In fact I was so sick of the dealer bull **** and inability to fix the car I sold it--- really sad
I have had vw's / audi's forever-----kept the GTI, but do the work myself - ha
