Hello All,

The turbo on my 2012 Treg is in need of a replacement, the car is throwing various CEL's. I am also getting occasional smell of diesel fumes inside the cabin.

My mechanic claims its potentially under the extended VW warranty as part of the dieselgate sandal, so I have scheduled my local VW dealer to investigate. Does anyone know for certain if the Turbo and Exhaust system is covered under the extended warranty ?

Cheers

Should be warranty indeed.
On my 2014 the flexible on the downpipe was leaking; and one of the flexible on the exhaust manifold is getting bad.

downpipe is not bad to replace, but brace yourself for the exhaust manifold if not covered on warranty.

Thanks Guys for your help, appreciate your responses.

Anyone know if the seat belt is covered under warranty ? The seat belt releases randomly, while driving. I would like them to investigate that too

If your car has factory warranty, then yes of course its covered

Then no, they wont help. The receiver doesn't commonly go bad on these (like.. ever..). I bet there is debris down in the opening

Historically its been a triple square remove but I haven't messed w/ the Touareg specifically

A co-worker's son bought a 2005 Honda a couple months back that was throwing a code because the seatbelt wouldn't fasten or it didn't think it was or something. The Honda dealer said it was covered since it was a safety issue. I'd check with a dealer. Worse they can say is no.

Follow up on this thread.

I ended up calling my local VW and they confirmed the extended warranty was up to 211K Km on all emission parts including the turbo. So I had all the leaking seals\components replaced under the extended warranty. Thank goodness or else I was into a very expensive repair job.

Did yiu get your turbo replaced under the extended warranty? I have the same problem but vw tells me that some turbo parts are not covered. What dealer did you go to? Thanks

I did not have the entire turbo replaced, most misc parts around the turbo. The dealer went back\forth several times on what's covered and what was not on the extended warranty.
By the end of the conversation, the dealer came back and said they would cover all the parts. I have the full service breakdown at home, just not on me now.

I used VW Oakville..... I didn't have a great history with them, but them came around this time.

Thanks for responding. They said that oil return line in turbo was leaking and that this was not covered. Would you be able to attach service breakdown to see what was covered?
Thanks a lot

I would argue that line is covered. Only way that part leaks (it's more like an interconnected flange) is if it was removed and put back together poorly
