I love my car, but every time I fix a rattle or squeak, a new one pops up. This battle has been non-stop since I purchased the car.

The new rattle? It's now the driver side front door. When driving and door closed, there is a creaking noise coming from the door as if it's shifting in its place. This noise comes when softly accelerating after a stop sign/red light, or when braking slowly for a stop sign/red light.

I also experience a loud whirring noise when driving on the highway in the same door... As if the window is slightly open.

The combination of these noises makes me think the door is out of alignment. Upon visual inspection, I don't see anything amiss. When trying to rattle the door using the handle and shaking, it does not show signs of the noise.

Any advice?

It's driving me crazy! I just fixed the creaking front seat and the rattling dash and now this!

Update:

So the whirring noise comes from the sideview mirror -- another design flaw amongst many on this otherwise magnificent car. It's a known Toureg fault from the gap between the mirror and its base -- the gap that exists so that you can fold your mirrors in. I "fixed" this by putting ductape over the crack.

Back to the rattles -- the driver side front door creaking still occurs and NOW the passenger side does too! It's definitely either the door hinges or in the B-pillars.

Any advice? Is there a way to remove the panels on the B-pillar so I can look inside?

I just did a 10 hour drive from MI to DC in my 2010 TDI and in the last 30 mins of driving, a creaking sound developed right above my head on left rear above window and door frame.

Creaks and knocks as if the vehicle is stretching when I stop and go and lots of knocks or rattles as I drive hwy speeds going over bumpy pavements.

No idea how to even diagnose or fix this.

I'm no autobodyologist, but has this vehicle been in any accidents?
My '11 is quiet at all speeds. Even when going over our local not so well cared for roads.

Before dismantling anything I would try wiping the door seals carefully with silicone spray or something like Autoglym vinyl and rubber care.

On older cars the front door hinges could drop slightly and needed a packing washer fitted to the lower hinge to realign the door nicely in the door frame so check your door alignment as well.

Wiping the seals works when my pano roof starts to creak.

Yes but 6 years ago. I have no details on the accident but Carfax shows after the accident the same owner owned the vehicle and kept it in regular service for several years after that. If I had noticed a sale after the accident, I ignore those cars.

Also, the 2011 you have is a new body style and think these were built better perhaps. I had a 2015 Touareg Hybrid and that was solid quiet. My 2008 Passat had this creaking knocking sound problem in the door frame of right rear. They said it was B Pillar and put some sort of felt tape which made it quieter but not 100%. I’m thinking these older generations have similar sound creaking problems in roof liner or above door frame areas.
