I am looking to order a 2010 V8 and I have some questions:

First I understand the air suspension is NOT available with the V8? It's listed as a V8 option on the VW site, however, dealer says this is not available.

Secondly, this is basic, but what does the air suspension do for a primarily roadgoing car? I live in Manhattan and this will be my dailydriver with w/e duty to haul the family and maybe the Z06 to events. As such my primary motive is to find a versitile yet comfortable ride with good handling characteristics. Does the air suspension positively and noticeably improve either or both? If it does, I may consider looking for a used 09 with it.

Finally, is there anymore info about the '10 and the '10 V8 out there?

From what I have heard, the 2010 V8 is not going to be available in the USA. Only VR6 and v6 TDI.

Anyone else?

Just ordered my 2010 TDI and there was no V8 option on the dealer order guide dated 6/19/09. If you want a v8, you should look for an '09.

Really?! I thought '11 was the last year for V8s!

Ok so any primers on diesels? Like reviews on mpg and driving the new 6cyl diesel?

I'm coming from a 420hp truck

A quick check on Cars.com is showing a few V8 2009's with Air. The trick is to find real photos of the interior and look for a dial on the passenger side of the console (not a hole). When I was shopping in June, I called a few dealers and got actual photos of the vehicle interior sent to me.

Check with 13-year Vet (Chris) here on Club by PM. He may be able to run an inventory on remaining 09's in the US with the features you want.

As to Air usefulness, there is another recent thread on the topic.. but 4-corner air allows you to control your ride - soft to stiff; plus some niceties like getting visibility in traffic, getting under the vehicle, and otherwise being a nasty menace to society. Should work great in Manhattan. :)

They have a 2008 V8 with Air at Santa Monica VW. I'm not a fan of their sales people but their service department is top notch. I've never had a problem and I know I can trust my service rep.

I will check w/ my rep tomorrow on any available at the port.

Here is what is out there in 009 dealer land w/ air ride

Santa Monica VW was one of the kind dealers to send me interior photos. If it is the same vehicle I checked out, it does have Air.

If you are wanting to work with your dealer, you can find out if they work in a network. My vehicle was from Emich VW's lot in Denver and purchased at Findlay VW (Dan K) in Las Vegas - they simply transported it once the deal was firm.

(and just seeing that Chris just posted - he might be able to do the same thing for you - hes in PA I believe)

Does anyone know if there are any cash incentives on the 2009 V8's?

I also just saw this 2008 V8 with air and 4 zone climate - BIN $35k. Strange to see 4 zone climate with no nav though. 28k miles.

For me personally, it is kinda hard to pay for a brand new Touareg when there are a ton of great 2-3 year old ones out there at a HUGE cost savings.
$3500. OR 0.0% up to 66 months

$3500. OR 0.0% up to 66 months
Assuming 5% rate on the loan, the promotional offer is worth at least $7,000.

I would assume that there would be more trunk money to move the V8's.

I heard rumors that in years past V8's were selling for $10,000 - $15,000 off MSRP.

2008's were.. but off MSRP. You should be able to come to the typical X over invoice or better... with dealer cash, thats worth not far off.

-0- up to 66 months is a pretty good incentive imho.

Do you belong to Costco? If so they give you a breakdown of the incentives AND the Trunk Money. Right now VW has 0% for 60mo + $2000 Customer incentives AND $3500 to the dealer FROM VW !!!! (Trunk Money) get the dealer to throw in all the trunk money and you got yourself a good deal!

Link is below with all the info!

The spread between dealer cost and MSRP is in the $4000-$5000 range.

Then add in more cash or 0%.

I am a member at Costco. No dealers in my area though.

Are you sure all of those cash offers are on top of the 0%?

13 year vet just said $3500 or 0% up to 66 months.

The 0% up to 66 months is a great deal. It is very difficult for me to take 5.5 years to pay off a vehicle. I know that financially it makes more sense to extend the 0% as long as possible, but I would rather have piece mind that the car is paid for much earlier.

Oh ya!!! They want to move the '09's to make room for the '10's so I can see a lot of room for incentive's. That's even what the sales rep at Emich VW stated to me Saturday.

That did just go up to $3500 over the weekend since i seem to only remember it was $2000 last Friday. Not sure if the price is different from Executive to Standard members or not. As an Executive member I used this program on the volvo and it went flawless! Planning on doing the same on the next Treg...

Did you happen to enter your info in the Costco site adn see what dealer Costco has negotiated the price with?

Please go back and read your Costco program.

VW's incentives come as what they call their Triathalon program.

You get to choose 1 of the three incentives. Not to be combined:

There is either $2000 cash to the customer on the lease{and nobody realizes that they raised the money factor up exactly the amount to get their 2K back}

There is $3500 in dealer cash{I beleive you called it trunk money}if you do NOT use the 0%

There is 0% up to 66 month if you are a floorplanned dealer w/ VCI, 0% uup to 60 months if not.

The dealer cash in the past has been a boatload. 10K on the V8's and 15K on the 06-07 Touareg TDI's was a great help to sell them.

Those are long gone. Remember who we are dealing w/ here. Stubborn VW.

THey realized the downfall of high dollar, heavy gas guzzlers and cut their production this year to just under 6000 Touareg's.

There are only 16 V8 Touareg's left in the country at dealerships and VW is not going to go to the bat at those high dollar incentives to move just 16 of them.
