Are you asking if the mirrors can be made to fold in automatically when you lock the car and vice versa?
2010 Touareg VR6: Side View Mirrors -- heated? folding?
I have a '10 VR6 w/ Lux package. I am wondering about my side view mirrors. I have read the owner's manual and have not found the answer. Love this forum!
So, the side view mirror control switch near the shifter has a 6 o'clock position that has a heater icon on it. I assume I need to keep the switch in this position to get the mirrors to heat. Is this correct?
Also, is there a way to have the mirrors fold in electronically? If so, how? (This is for parking on narrow streets and in the winter here in MA, snow plows just bust through without caring what they brake off of cars)

On my 2003 T1, the heater was at 12 o'clock and you soon learned how to quickly turn the knob to 6 o'clock to fold the mirrors in if an oncoming vehicle looked like it might pass close enough for its mirrors to clash!
There was a quite cheap device marketed by a European company to automate the fold upon locking/unlocking the car but it was several years ago that I last saw it.
If you cannot rotate your knob, then it would seem your mirrors don't have the motors for the fold function. If you can, then there may be an electrical fault.
