I just signed-up, and hope I'm not bringing up a topic that has been beat to death already, but a forum search did not give any results.

I am looking at buying a 2010 Touareg 3.0L TDI with 105,000 miles on it. The reported service history shows regular dealer maintenance since sold new; however, I am concerned about the possibility of replacement of the timing chain(s), since that seems to be a topic of concern on many Touareg-related forums and a fairly expensive proposition.

So what is the general consensus regarding the service history of the timing chain(s) on the 2010 Touaregs TDIs, and/or any other maintenance/service concerns with the 2010s?

Thanks for any help and advice!

I can't recall timing chains being an issue on 3.0 Tdis.

Timing belts on early V8s need changing every 80K/5 years, whichever comes first, and there are occasional timing chain issues on 3.2 gassers.

Read this thread carefully and thoroughly, then you'll know as much as most folk on here [those that have read this thread too!!]:
