I have a 2010 Touareg with the 3.0 CATA with 200k on the clock. I purchased this recently knowing I would need to invest some work/money to replace a 2003 Jetta TDI with many more miles. I also have a 2014 Touareg X. To the point, I am receiving limp mode under full acceleration with code P0087-003 Low rail pressure. I can drive reasonably anywhere up to 90 mph or more, but if I floor it, I throw the code. I changed the fuel filter and found no metal and the filter wasn't terribly dirty. The bottom of the center tower in the fuel canister was damaged but seemed to set fine when I assembled it. I logged using VCDS on a few pulls and either way when I slowly got to full throttle or just floored it off the line, the result was the same. The max fuel pressure developed was 1650 bar even when specified 1750+ causing the code. The deviation seems reasonable at lower pressures. I'm not sure where to go. The touareg actually seems to have more pep than my 2014. Thinking the rail pressure control valve or pump at this time. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I wonder if you have a bad or non-stock metering valve. Very strange. Also sounds like the pump may be on its way out. Is the metering valve plugged in tightly and all of the wires proper?

You're welcome. Glad you got it fixed.
