My Touareg has a problem where, when locked with all doors shut, the rear sensor will randomly register the rear hatch as opening which sets off the alarm. This only ever happens in the night/early morning and seems to be linked to drops in temperature. When this happens, the sensor will continue to see the trunk as open until the trunk is manually opened and closed.
This has been a problem for a long time but is becoming pressing given a change in living situation. Essentially, I can't lock my car at night for fear the alarm will randomly set off. When I took it in to the dealership to address this problem, they charged me 150 dollars to open and close my trunk once lol...
Does anyone have experience with this and know a solution? I can provide more detail but didn't want to subject everyone to a novel if it's a familiar problem. Huge thanks in advance to anyone willing to help me with this!
