My 2004 Touareg V8 is now gone and I have just bought a 2008 T2 V8 with 62k miles. I kept looking at other vehicles and came back to my Treg and bought another one :)

I'm not as familiar with the T2 so any advice on any 60k maintenance appreciated. Its the FSI motor and I understand this has a timing chain so no 80k timing belt. My initial thoughts were

Spark Plugs
Engine air filter change
Pollen filter
Not sure on trans and diff as it has no tow hitch so the drive train shouldn't have seen too much strain
Rotors look re-surfaced so someone cheaped out - plan to replace these with Brembo OEM's - do you know if they're the same size from the T1?

Also it comes with 19 inch rims and 275 45 19 Yokohama Advan's and I have a set of 255 55 18 Pirelli Scorpion snows - can I used these for the winter - are they the same rolling circumference

Thanks in advance
John

18s are fine.

Definitely change the ATF, and the transfer box and front and rear diff fluids.

Thanks guys

Thinking ahead as I'll be asking to have the plugs done

Did the T2 have the same TSB on the coil packs as I know the dealer did those for me on my T1 for free?

Thanks
John

Thanks Stuart

I also had a call from the dealer (Dodge/Chrysler so not a VW specialist) as I could smell gas on the test drive...he told me its a crack in the plastic on the fuel pump and he's replacing it so can't pick up until Monday...anyone heard of this as looking at fuel pump replacement its under the rear seat so wondering how it would have cracked or do they fail over time...? I also read it has 2 fuel pumps so checking Monday with the dealer if its just one or both...

Thanks for all the info - Big service done at the dealer ($1200 as needed a new vacuum hose) but the car feels and drives great. Can't wait to test the towing out later this week. Only remaining issue is the rear window won't budge or close fully....so I might have the dreaded window regulator problem....going to the dealer tomorrow for diagnosis...and probably another bill...its all worth it though as I love my Treg!
