I purchased new front struts for my 2008 Touareg from Rock Auto. After taking the old ones off I noticed that there was a size difference between the 2. The spring had less coils but I didn't think that was a big issue. The main issue is the part at the top above the top mounting piece. I have attached a picture that shows the difference. Will these new struts still fit with this issue or is this just not the right strut for my car? Any insight will help.

Rock Auto had this part under my year and engine size. Did you have any trouble putting them back on? Forgot to mention that I have no past experience with struts. We purchased the new one already assembled instead of purchasing the parts separate. Could I still use the new part?

If you look at my post, Clicky Here. I had the same issue. Post installation, my Egg was about an inch or so lower front than rear, what is known as a positive rake. I had to use PRG front strut extenders to compensate.

I gave in and took it to a mechanic. He was able to get them installed. So far it rides fine. I can tell a little difference. Thank you for y'all for your help.
