2008 T2: Low dust front pad recommendations w/o the lecture?!?!

I just read a few WAY to long threads that were meandering and overly analytical about eurospec, etc...still never got the answers I wanted. Someone spoon feed me.

The 2008 doesn't have the options as much as earlier years from what I can tell. No Hawk LTE options for my year.

Regardless who has the best experience and with what on a 08-09 T2 with low dust. Looking at Pelican Parts and I see about 6 options for the 300mm fronts.

ATE Ceramic: yeah...yeah...yeah I read the post and know how you guys say the sun will explode if get those.

As we know the OEMs are unbearble. I can spend an hour cleaning my wheels to have them black again by the next weekend. Don't have this issue with my other heavy trucks!

What do you like for your sanity and stopping power?

What about noise? A don't care about dust, I want the brakes to stay quiet and powerful.
OEM brakes are quiet and dust is not an issue. (I have had my discs and pads replaced in March.)
Good to know. Do you have an estimate of how long they will last? Or is it too soon to tell.
Too soon to tell. My Touareg is not my daily driver.

Zimmermann Coat-Z. Clearly less dust production than previously. Then again, I had the whole break calipers replaced at the same time about a year ago...

Call Geoff at Alretta Truck Parts, you'll save money. He's a Touareg owner and does a ton of business on here for good reason. I chose Raybestos pads on OEM rotors - they require a teensy bit more initial effort when cold and squeak a little when backing out of the garage with a light toe on the brake, but once they're warm they are rock-solid stoppers and quiet with little dust past initial wear-in. Have had a few panic stops, and they are *good*. I got 77,000mi out of my OEM Pagids including Rocky Mountain driving, I expect that many out of the Raybestos.
If you want low dust and good braking then go with the OEM pads, if better bite and more stopping and can love with dirtier wheels go with Pagid. I put pagid rotors and pads on my wife's 09 and it stops excellent, coats the wheels within a week or two, but she is hard on them. My 10 still is on OEM and don't start getting build up for a few thousand miles and is lighter colored dust, and the bite is not as good. One thing that suprized me when I did the pads were the OEM on the 09 were stamped made in the USA with the VW markings. And check which pads you need 1 vs 2 pin calipers.

I think you're confused. OEM for the Touareg is Pagid and they aren't made in the USA.

OEM pads are Pagid, as are the rotors.

OBTW if you're going to do the work yourself, you'll also need two special triple-square driver heads, a 5mm and a 16mm. Geoff will package the whole deal for under $900 for all four corners delivered, plus new headlight bulbs.
It's funny how every brake posting digresses into the same discussion!

I was hoping for my antidotal evident what you use/like in relationship to no dust. That was the original post. Thanks to all those who commented on topic and off!

Sorry but OEM dust is terrible for a majority of us...not sure why it's not an issue for you! My wheels don't last more then two weeks before it's embarrassing. I've got an F250 for work with nice wheels that can go months before it's bad with dust on OEM pads.

Ummmm...no. I can source the same gear on Rockauto for a fraction of your $900 price tag. Pagid, Raybestos, Bendix, etc are all available options. Not sure how your math works.

Didn't mean to offend you, sorry. I saved over $1,000 vs taking my truck to the dealer. That's how my math works.

And how small a "fraction" vs. Geoff's prices? I'd have to price out exactly what I bought from Geoff, but $700 or so for rotors, pads, clips, lube, and wear sensors for all four corners plus tooling, and low and high beam headlight bulbs isn't that much of a savings...my price was much closer to $800 than $900 delivered. And, I got personal attention during my purchase including great information on what would work for my driving style and preference, and I helped a small business owner who's also a Touareg driver.

There's a good reason he does a lot of business on this site. And no, it's not "everyone else is stupid."

Not trying to offend. Simply trying to determine if I'm missing something sourcing rotors, sensors, and pads elsewhere. My math is coming out at $600 delivered vs. $900 from Geoff.

I got rotors (OEM Pagid), sensors, pads (Raybestos), retention bolts, clips, pins, lube, headlight bulbs, and triple-squares from Geoff for a hair over $800 delivered.

The pads/rotors/sensors/clips/pins/bolts/lube were $662. $75 S&H for 105lbs of stuff via UPS 2nd day (don't know what he ordered, but they came from NY to CO in 2 days). Bulbs and triple squares on top of that, same shipment.

His prices over a year ago, may have changed.

I have seen Raybestos pads on wholesale clearance/limited availability for dirt cheap in a couple places, could probably cobble together a cheaper deal, but why not call Geoff and see what he can do?

Raybestos = very low dust.
I am only one voice but I would NOT be calling Geoff. I am probably the only one on this board with a negative experience with his offering. I paid approximately $800 (plus $200 install) for replacement pagid pads, pagid rotors, and misc hardware which he touted as the OEM equivalent/replacement. His replacement package only lasted me approximately 28,000 miles and dusted like crazy. The original OEM setup lasted 109,000 miles with limited dust. I went back to the original OEM parts $1,200 installed. Lesson learned. (You can search my other posts regarding my experience).

Today I took snaps of all the wheels around. *Last time my Treg was washed on 3 Sep 2016. 13 days passed (driving daily).

You sir are freak of nature then!

I wish I took a photo of mine as I washed the T2 two nights ago. It was close to a month since I last washed the wheels but I only drive the T2 to work once a week and to the lake (120 miles) on the weekend with a few quick trips around town. They were about 50% black with dust! I'll confirm when I pull them off this weekend if they are truly OEM but the guy I bought my T2 from appeared to ONLY service it at Vw post warranty. He had every oil change record still does with them...so I assumed he brakes and such too.
