I know that there are a lot if threads regarding this. I read them all and I think that I just confused myself more.
My hubby and I were driving. We stopped at a store to check fuses as my cigarette lighters were not working to charge our phones. He took out a bunch and visually looked at them. They were all good. Oh well. We go to leave. Key stuck, car wont start.
I immediately got onto this site and started reading.
We disconnected the battery under seat and waited 20 minutes, nothing.
We tried to jump start it. Nothing.
I should say that when the battery is connected, it appears that we have full power. Done lights, dash, console, etc all work.
We leave the car overnight in a grocery store parking lot. Ugh.
Next day return and try everything all over again. Nada. I buy a fuse checker and check every one of them under the steering wheel on the left hand side. All good.
We get our the special wrench and rake off the bolt for the immobilizer. Gotta be it! Nope
Next is tow.
They tow it away and the tow truck driver asks if we can take apart the shifter to hit a white button to get it into neutral. Nope. (My hubby did that part, so not sure if button or switch).
Next, I get a diagram of all the fuses in the car. We test the ones on the passenger side under hood by windshield wiper. All good.
Lastly, I buy an OBD2. I can't get it to talk to my car. Tech support was of no help either. Yes. I had the key turned while I tried and the machine works jyst fine on his Suburbans.
Here I sit typing this out and no clue what to do next. I assume relay. But before I dive into that research....I bit the bullet and am pleading for help. The key is still stuck and won't start. Still at square one.
Thank you for reading this, even if you are laughing your ass of. I just want my car back.
I bought used. Has transmission issue and a crate engine. 2006 v6. Thats the details I can think to tell you. Phew
