2005 V8 Petrol Touareg blowing Fuel pump fuses

Hi everyone,

My 05 Petrol V8 Touareg suddenly decided not to start. Noticed that the familiar noise of pumps priming when I open driver door has stopped. Opened the 2 section fuse box and found that both the 15 Amp fuses are blown. Replaced them and tried to start the car, no joy :(

Checked fuses again and they are blown. Any insights into what may be causing this?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Odds are it is time for fuel pumps and fuel filters.

If it was my vehicle, I would unplug the fuel pumps at the connectors under the rear seats. If new fuses do not blow with the pumps unplugged, then it more evidence that the problem is in the fuel tank.

When you replace the fuel pumps, I would replace both the gas tank caps also. The plastic fuel lines get brittle when old.

Obviously, If the fuses blow when the pumps are unhooked, then you have a wiring harness problem to find and fix.

@nickyt thanks so much, you have given me a great place to start. Hopefully its just the pumps and I can swap them out. Need to get those seat belt connectors out in the morning so I can get to those pumps.
