Not long ago, My check engine came on and i took it to a mechanic to let me know what kind of codes i was getting.

Well this is what i got:

P0050 H02S Heater Control Circuit (Bank 2, Sensor 1)

What i'm try to do is replace the part. I tried searching online but i can find or tell exactly what part i need whether its a wire going to the cat...or the sensor itself.

Since i'm not too familiar with Touaregs (My first). Its tough to find the right part.
I went to this site called discount02sensors.com... Their support is totally useless needless to say. I did a search but i got different brands, prices...

So i'm coming to you guys for help and see if i can get the part myself cheaper online rather than taking it to the dealer so I can get rapped.

First off, are you spelling your codes exactly right? I'm having difficulty sourcing them. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but that sounds like a universal OBD 2 reader coding? I checked the Ross-Tech website for that code can't find anything.

Sounds like your pre- cat oxygen sensor since it is responsible for pre heating as well.
This may help you: OBD-II Trouble Code: P0150 02 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

Go to the Commercial Classifieds section of this forum, there are a few good vendors(VW parts departments) on here that have nice pricing.

This comes straight from VW.... Code P0050

HO2S Heater Control Circuit, Bank 2 Sensor 1....

Bank 1 = Cylinder bank 1, in direction of travel, right. Bank 2 = Cylinder bank 2, in direction of travel, left.

Your (defective) sensor is labelled #1 (G108)

Connector #4

You can get O2 sensors from many online or local parts stores. They cost anywhere from +/-$50 for a bosch universal to >$100 for an OEM from the Dealer. The OEM has the correct connector and the universal sensors just have wires that you connect to the existing connector. You also need an O2 sensor socket and several extensions to reach. They can be hard to loosen and sometimes you have to get the engine hot for the sensor to come out. If you've never done one before, I'd find a friend who has or take the truck to the shop for repair.
