You need to know the vin number. Here is a copy of 2 posts that may help. Note that May 2004 build is a 2004 , not 2005

Are VIN numbers international / model based / or what?
I am getting a V8 that has been at the yard for about 3 months in Australia. Looking at the plate yesterday, I saw it was built in May 2004 and the VIN number is 88,xxx. This seems high.
Whilst shopping for a friend who is getting a MY05 V6 Luxury, I asked the dealer what VIN numbers are the cars coming - he said 22,xxx for one and 26,xxx for another.

shawgoh,
Your car is a 2004. The others you speak of are 2005s. They restart the numbers for the new model year. There is another digit change to signify the model year change elsewhere in the VIN.
