I see in VWoA's announcement that the 2005 Tregs will have a full-size, rear-mounted spare. Please tell me that's an option and not standard! I thought the tire hanging on back was a thing of the early 90's!!

Have been waiting for the '05s...may change my mind if all the Tregs are going to look like glorified Kias.

I'm glad you're able to reach some competent sales people because here in Missouri, there aren't any! I know more than most of the guys I've talked to...their only response is "2005s? They'll be here in a couple of months." That's the extent of their knowledge.

Anyway, I hope your guy is right because the spare hanging on the back reminds me too much of something like a Jeep Liberty.

I just saw a Cayenne with the rear mounted spare and it was horrible looking.

the Cayenne looks SO MUCH BETTER with a rear mounted tire at the back, mayb the covering you guys get it different than the one we get here...and also if you saw the picture uploaded in VWvortex.com of the touareg with an rear tire, it look totally different than the one our dealer showed us (has a tire cover)...
