I have a 2004 V 8 Touareg with 130,000 miles on it. A few days ago my wife got in and tried to drive but the power steering was not working. Fluid topped up, belt and pump o.k. I drove it down the street, steering very heavy and after a few hundred feet of turning left and right, a small thud and power steering came back. Continues to do this every morning at start up, never does it rest of the day.
