Hello everyone,

I've noticed a "slow death" of my 12v sockets in my 2007 Touareg.

What doesn't work - the one in the cigarette lighter, the one next to the shifter, the one in the center console, the one in the back seat, and the front one in the cargo area. What DOES work is the rear one in the cargo area.

The one in the back seat died last year but I just ignored it, plugging the kid's DSi charger in the front one. That socket died last week.

I checked the fuses - the fuse card lists positions in #1, #3 and #5. For some reason I only have a fuse in #1, and it's OK (20A), but just for fun I put 20A fuses in #3 and #5. Also replaced #1 incase it was something I was missing. No difference.

I'm getting no errors and there are no other issues with the car.

Any ideas? I've done a search and nothing comes up with a similar situation. Are these wired in series or in parallel?

Have you checked the fuses on both sides of the dash?? I popped one once when my son dropped a penny in it, and the fuse for it was on the passenger side!

Something to check!
I didn't but will do so and check back. Wouldn't be the first time that it wasn't clear in the manual or reference card :)

That was the problem...the card said 1, 3, 5, all 20A, but they were in 26, 27, 28, all 15A. 2 out of the 3 were blown.

Seems to be quite a few variations so I'll add what I have...mine is a 2007 V8, all 12v sockets (1 in the front next to shifter and 2 in the rear cargo area) and both cigarette lighter outputs go through fuse position 1 on the left hand side fuse box. I have a 15A fuse there. Position 3 and 5 do not have a fuse installed.

Wanted to add that I found a couple fuses missing from the user manual. Fuses 29 and 30 on the US drivers' side left controlled my center console and rear trunk 12 volt cigarette lighter outlets, and are marked 'NOT USED' in online manuals. The US passenger side left fuse box 20 (I believe) controlled the built-in inverter, which is also not marked in the manual. So check any blown fuses, but also put a fuse in ALL plugs (maybe 3 or 5 amp fuses) that have 2 metal connectors in them!

Thanks I know it's a bit late but I figured out
