Onward to 150,000 miles! Just did the 100K service on my 2013 TDI at 100,005 miles. This is only the second vehicle I have owned where I have seen that mileage reached. Hoping to get past 200,000 without anything MAJOR along the way failing. I expect the DPF and turbo to be two things that will someday fail.

I have only done two oil changes myself so far at 90K and this one at 100K, and I really hate that both the plastic dust shields have to be removed from the under body, plus, the oil drain plug when removed causes oil to just tough a cross member under the engine, and the distance to the oil catch pan, causes considerable splash over the sides. I had a lot of work to clean the garage floor as best I could with degreaser.

Both the oil filter and fuel filter changes are very easy. After wiping out the fuel filter canister, I filled it almost to the top with DieselKleen before starting the engine. It took a few seconds longer than usual and threw a glow plug MIL lamp on the dash. After idling for a couple minutes, I shut down and restated, no problems, MIL light gone.

Tire rotations are easy. Only takes 30 minutes now. 2 jacks on one side, front to rear swap.

All this while nursing a partially torn Achilles wearing a brace splint boot, and a damaged muscle under my shoulder blade, preventing me from turning to the right while on my back, LOL, it sucked.

100k mile cars are the best. This means MOST of the catastrophic crap thats gonna go wrong already has.

If you are going to do your own oil changes, get yourself a fumoto drain plug.
I always put some heavy duty aluminum foil over the bar with edges turned up and brought to a funnel point at the bottom to help alleviate the mess. I change out oil (full synthetic) every 5000 miles and am at 150000 now. Next oil change the fumoto goes on then it's just a matter of hooking up plastic tube to the fumoto and opening valve to drain, shut valve to fill.

Talked me into it. I'll order one (FUMOTO). I was eyeballing them several times over the last couple years, but I might as well. Being able to put a hose on the drain end will help a LOT with the mess. Aside from the bum ankle, the mess on the floor was the worst part of the job.

You have to b it the hose/tube separately. Got mine on Amazon $8.00 or so, snaps right on.

I bought a Fumoto F106SX drain plug kit (plus the hose kit) and installed it in 2021. The cleanest oil change I have ever done. I thought I have a leaky seal at the drain plug, but it turns out I have several oil leaks coming from the rear and front of the engine. Plus oil collecting in a air charge pipe driver side near intercooler behind the bumper clip. ugh.
It's only a nuisance, I barely lose 8 ounces over 10K miles, unless I tow my trailer (400+ miles trips) a few times, then it's at least a quart per 10K miles.

Next change at 130K, I'm inspecting the oil filter housing, behind the water pump pulley (front oil seal) and turbo charger area it's hard to see in there. I suspect the timing chain cover is leaking though as it's a very popular place to leak on Touaregs. Always oily (engine oil) on the bottom of the transmission/engine bell housing. I hope it's not rear main seal but, at some point I may get the needed work done. HPFP, turbo, timing chains and tensioners, timing sprockets, oil filter housing, rear and front seal. That should cover it.
