Hi there, does anyone know if/how the Ross tech vag com will program a new key for this model, have the new key/fob from VW and a new 10.6 Vagcom.

Also, when vehicle exceeded 80 miles per hour engine glow plu light came on, oil pressure warning came up, and dropped into limp, from Salt lake City to St George.

Oil level is fine, oil chnages have been done, vehicle done 18,000 miles, am suspecting oil pressure switch as I read that on another thread.

Thanks

Maximus

Personally, with the oil pressure light on, I would not drive that car - I'd get it towed to the dealer to be on the safe side.

Self diagnosis over the internet is one thing, but the risk - and cost - of a blown engine is another!

Hey DynamicMax - I too have an 09 TDI, and I too had the Oil Pressure warning light come on twice a week for all of August. Luckily, it's nothing that requires having your car towed, because in my case it was a faulty oil pressure sensor/valve. I hope it's the same case for you as yours is also a 2009. My dealer here in MD replaced the faulty part for free, and the warning light hasn't come back on since.

I'm amazed that people will carry on driving a car with an $8,000 engine when a low oil pressure warning is lit up.

The car may have a faulty switch, but what if it doesn't? What if it really is LOW oil pressure? What if you wreck the engine?

Are you going to expect VW to pick up the tab because you did not mitigate the risk?

To be honest, I'd be embarrassed to admit I'd carried on driving my car in those circumstances even if it did turn out to be a duff sensor!

The sensible thing to do, especially if it is your own wallet at risk, is to treat the warning light with due respect and, if you do not have VAGcom to read the faults, at least call the dealer immediately to decide whether or not to get it towed for investigation.

Websites like this are extremely useful in helping people to find out about their car's problems with contributors sharing their experiences and offering advice or possible solutions.

The downside is that no one sees and hears and has direct hands-on experience of the actual vehicle for which advice is being requested.

Therefore I think that each of us, when posting responses to problems or enquiries, has a duty of care to give the best and safest advice on the information offered and we should always err on the side of caution.

After all, it is the OP's bank balance in the firing line, and not ours!

Thanks for the input.

To be more specific, I bought the car a few weeks ago, drove it around Salt Lake, it went well, and as I mentioned it played up on the way to St George.

There is no oil pressure guage, thats the pain. It has oil temp and water temp, but not pressure, and the oil pressure light did not come on.

Pulled off and shut off imedieatley, and tghen restarted, and because the engine was running so quiet and sweet, and it didnt say shut engine off, the screen between the guages said, Oil pressure low, dont drive over 2500 rpm, (which is over 80 mph in top gear,) I sort of new it wouldnt be oil pressure, besides, since when did a German engine lose oil pressure at 18,000 miles.

The services have been done, so it wouldnt be a blocked oil filter, and the oil pressure relief valve would be a long shot stuck open against spring pressure, never seen it yet in 30 years of mechanicing.

So on balance, I figured its a faulty sender.

Will call into a dealer soon and see what they have to say, and i will see if I can get those codes you mentioned.

Many Thanks

Maximus

This seems at this point for whatever reason to be an 09 issue. I have not experienced it in my 10 and I have had mine well above 80mph for a long periods of time when I did the trip from SLC to York, PA a couple of times. I certainly have had it at that speed in many different levels of altitude as well.

Where did you buy it, Strongs or Southtowne? Despite issues others have had I always was treated well at Strongs even though I did not buy mine from them.

When I lived in SLC Strong was just closer for me to go for service. My ex bought her Passat from Southtowne, but we never took it back for service there.
