Just picked up a very clean 05 V8 for a very nice price. VG shape, 113k miles, timing belt, cam seals, water pump already done, fresh oil change/inspection by dealer, air suspension, new tires and a 3/4 tank of gas, thank you very much. So far, one tank top-off and a couple hundred miles and I’m liking the Touareg a whole lot. Gets better MPG than my 94 Suburban, which it is replacing and I have had since new. A couple of things have come to my attention.
1. Front left turn signal is intermittent- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It will work with just the DRLs on, but the instant you switch to the middle or right position on the light switch it goes inop and the check light warning comes on. No problem with the other three corners. Is it the light bulb or more likely a bad or intermittent ground? Where/how would I check?
2. Got a funny, low pitch grumbly sound coming from the right side dash area. For some reason it doesn’t do it when in reverse. It’s a random sound with no set pattern- sounds almost like coffee percolating. PO’s wife said that it had been that way since they purchased the vehicle seven years earlier. Drove her crazy. Any ideas? Would it be one of the A/C flap controller motor thingys that I have read about here?
3. Radio audio question- I want my Bluetooth and Satellite radio! I have the DVD Nav/radio unit- Don’t know if that’s the digital amp version or not, but all I have is FM and an iPod feed that is fed in through the CD input- PO unplugged the CD player in the back (it is still there). OK. I have been following the threads on the 150 head unit installs. What I would like to know is, without buying the new head unit:
Can I connect my XM radio to the radio? I have an XT Roady if that matters. Where do I route the antenna and where do I route the FM pickup feed? Has anyone done this?
Do I go for the Parrot Bluetooth apparatus- is that the only way I will get BT or is there another way?
Or do I just buy the new head unit because it would just about cost the same as the other two installs put together?
