Hi again folks. Well my Egg is suffering from the dead wiper syndrome that many others have dealt with. At first it was quite intermittent, maybe 1 in 30 starts, and if they didn't work, shut it down, restart and it was fine.

Now they don't work at all. Rear still works fine, washer sprayers front and back work fine. Stereo works fine. Fuse 8 has been checked and is ok.

I've read about the CANBUS connector behind the stereo and was wondering if anyone had any details or pictures of this, and any other suggestions or solutions would be fantastic.

If the hood sensor is triggered the MFD should show 'hood open' in red with the key on.

I don't have VCDS or ready access to one. I don't have the hood indicator light so I'm fairly sure that it's not that. I will double check function of the switch just to be sure.

I'm going to try to pull the stereo this weekend and see if there's anything amiss behind it. It does have an aftermarket sat radio module and a Parrot bluetooth module (both put in by the PO so I don't know what all was cut/spliced)

The wiper motor does sit on the same CAN bus as the radio.

I'd also suggest starting with a VCDS Scan. With a V10 owning a VCDS really is a must.

The VCDS is definitely on my shopping list. I was all set to buy until they announced the wifi version, then I thought I'd wait for that, bad plan. I'll get one soon.

Would the VCDS indicate if there was a lack of connection somewhere in that bus?

I've made no real progress on solving this but do have some additional information for those who are interested.

The issue is somewhat temperature dependent, as it's getting warmer here (finally) the wipers seem to function more frequently. I've also noticed that my automatic headlights are always on.

Does anyone know of the light sensor is on the same bus as the stereo and wipers?

The rain/light sensor behind your interior rear view mirror would be the common thread to follow. This sensor has been upgraded at least once. I have an original if you want. With VCDS one can do all kinds of coding to adjust automatic lights and wipers.
