I am going crazy, need advice on purchase of new T. I can't decide if the savings on '04's is worth getting the V-8, or go for the newer V-6. Is the power difference a major deal? I'm trying to get a low price can't afford too much but love the car. Also any help on best dealers in CA/western U.S? :confused2:

I love my V6 but the V8 is more powerful. With the good deals right now, I wish I would have waited and purchased a V8. The V8 has a throatier sound, more accessorizing options, nice rims.

Read the FAQs and if you buy a 2004, try to get one w/ a higher VIN # as most of the kinks have been worked out.

Have fun shopping! :joy:

g-man,

That would be $7,000 off of MSRP. I bought an '04 V8 for precisely that much off.

I opted for the 8 simply for the power. Keep in mind that not many of have driven a 2005 v6. The 20 or whatever horsepower mind be just what it needed. 2004 v6's were a little underpowered in my opinion. Keep in mind that when you step up to 8 your also getting yourself a couple "standard" options that you would be paying for in the 6.

No difference

I have had a 2004 V6 and now I have the 2005 V6. The additonal 20 HP does not make much of a difference if any at all.

HTH

The deals on the 04 V8s convinced me to buy now rather than wait for the 05 V6. Keep in mind that the 05 V6 will be $1,000 more. Now add the incentives to get the 04 V8 and the difference in cost narrows to probably $2,000 or less depending on options. Your challenge will be finding a V8 that is not fully loaded.

Good Luck. Let us know what you do.

i opted for '04 V8 myself over '05 V6 because V8 was costing just around 2K more. If you already own VW, you get 1K loyalty rebate from VW on '04 models while it's just $500 on '05 models.

Also, i wanted to have Napa leather which is available only on V8s!

With the amazing prices your guys (US) get, I'd go for the V8. In Australia, my friend and myself has just ordered 2 Touaregs. He's getting a 05 V6, I'm getting a ex-demo 04 V8. I am still having to pay about $AUS20K for the V8 power more than he's paying.

In the short test drive I've had, the V8 grunt is amazing. I would *almost* compare the feeling to a WRX. Whereas, with the V6, it was an adequate machine. For me, the V8 would put a smile on my face a lot more.

I decided to go for the '05 V6 simply because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted in the '04 V8s.

I had two offers on the table for basically the same price, that would have gotten me an '04 V8 (close to what I want) or an '05 V6 (exactly what I want) I chose the latter.

My personal opinion is, if I'm going to spend this much on a vehicle, I want to get what I want to get. Know what I mean?

I've decided to go for an 05 V8 after not finding an 04 configured how I want it. I almost went for the V6, but decided to pay the extra cause I really want the extra power. Have 2 deals on the table at dealer invoice just need to pull the trigger. Thanks for the help.
