New set shoes with slightly more spirited soles...

How's the road noise with the meatier tires? I just got some Cooper Discoverer ATP and they are soooooo loud! At slow speeds it sounds like my mountain bike riding on asphalt and at high speeds there's a constant loud humming

I could relate the noise to the hum of a mountain bike on tarmac. My previous set of A/T had some uneven wear which also had a hum, these are slightly louder but constant.(expected for the tread) It is battling the noise level of the roof basket whistle. I would say I can tune it out with the radio at about 30% volume. This was all around 60mph, I did however get it up to about 80mph where I feel it smoothed out and was slightly more quiet. All said, it doesn't really bother me because of where I had my expectations but that will be personal preference.
