  2. New V8 TDI Owner from NZ

    New Member Introductions
Check the brake advice yourself! Many owners get told by VW dealers they need brakes at an extortionate price when they don't. It can be a huge gouge. Wait until the brake wear warning light cones on when you will still have at least a couple of thousand miles or more to either order the...

Huge strange grey shapes on this page and elsewhere. This is a classic example of why website developers should never be let anywhere near websites! We had a site that worked fine and now it doesn't. Why are utterly irrelevant Google adverts clogging up space too? The one on this page in...

  7. Windscreen wipers alignment

    General Maintenance & Repair
For anyone else reading this thread, carefully lubricate the pantograph pivot once a year. This keeps the wiper blade sitting nice and firm on your windscreen along its full length.

  9. Windscreen wipers alignment

    General Maintenance & Repair
Good point and probably much more likely as the OP points out that high speed wiping is the most likely cause of slippage.

  11. What in the what?!?!

    Engine, Transmission and Exhaust
So are you going to clear them, go for a thrash and then rescan because the later scan codes - if any - are the important ones.?
  12. What in the what?!?!

    Engine, Transmission and Exhaust
Are these the before or after codes?
  13. What in the what?!?!

    Engine, Transmission and Exhaust
Agreed but keep a record of the first scan so you can see if any of the old codes are still there after the second scan folowing the Italian tune up.

  15. oil pressure....stop engine

    General Maintenance & Repair
Fair enough - it was worth mentioning in case you could save some cash! As for the centre bearing may i suggest you take a few minutes to read about the Jimi Fix and then put together what you need in a small bag and put that in the trunk for the next time...
  16. oil pressure....stop engine

    General Maintenance & Repair
Glad it's fixed but others have reported several times that their aftermarket PCVs failed pretty quickly so you might want to buy a genuine VW PCV and put that in the trunk! However, if you still have the old PCV you can get the small rubber diaphragm (which is the bit that breaks inside it and...

  19. 2014 VW Touareg - Overheated Once

    General Maintenance & Repair
Of course you should be concerned. So why are you wasting your time going back again? What will have changed? Never ever buy any Touareg with a known issue and especially one like this where no one knows the what, the why, or the wherefore. Steer well clear.
  20. 2008 v8. Where do I start?

    General Maintenance & Repair
    1. Brake fluid. Get a price from the dealer now whilst your car is with them. You may well find it's not worth you DIYing on this one. 2. ATF. There is a good how to on here on this. 3. Diff oil. Always remove the fill plug FIRST before removing the drain! 4. Transfer box oil. Buy the...
