Have the Nokians WR for the past 6 months. Wonderful handling in snow and rain. Really impressed. Very soft ride also.

They are expensive but worth it every penny sofar.

My previous tires, the Pirelli Scorpio's lasted just 20 K.

Nokian tyres

the best of all the rest 65K miles and lots to go. rated A temp A
traction 109V extra load and with good rotaion and proper inflation one hard tire to beat. I put 42-44 lbs in with the 18" had only one flat since I put them on.

One other thing, should be able to get them for right at $200. ea. When checking for price, I purchase them out of Richmond, VA. That's my 2 cents.

I just put a set on this afternoon, replacing stock Continentals @ 23,600 miles. The Contis probably had another couple thousand left, but they were close enough.

I bought 'em (and they were installed by) Weber Auto in Glenview IL (Chicago suburb).

Total cost, including alignment, was $1150.00. Future rotation / check-up is free for the life of the tires.

There's another place around the corner from them (C&M) that quoted 1199.00.

I waiting for rush hour to be over so I can take 'em out for a shakedown cruise before a weekend trip to Michigan.

I'm surprisingly excited, I've been chompin' at the bit since I started reading all the positive feedback on these (255/55/R18 SUV) to get a set.

More later after I get some road time.

Thanks to all that have posted their feedback, it helped!

They do ok on the trail but no so well over sharp rocks. Since they are slipped tires for the snow, they don't hold up well over rocks which tend to tear them up. But they do fine on gravel, dirt and a little mud.

With that said, they are awesome in the snow and on the highway!!!

I know have 43,000 miles on my Nokians and haven't needed to replace them yet.

advice on buying the Nokians

My Nokians just arrived. 255/55/18's. I did EXTENSIVE research on the least expensive place to get them, once I decided these were the tires I wanted. Someone above posted a "clue" about buying in VA. :censored: I found that to be true, that that dealer is the least expensive, however, only if you live there...... because when you add in the shipping it ends up adding up. Nevertheless, they are worth a call to see if you can get cheaper shipping, maybe it depends where you live but they have rules they have to follow so they don't undercut other Nokian distributors, kinda upset me. You can also go to the Nokian Tire website and click "Dealers" to see approved dealers in your state, and call them all up to get a quote. But, you are likely to receive much higher quotes than the seller I ended up going with. The seller that was definitely the least expensive for me (here in Denver anyways) is out of Michigan called Tire Factory. Total cost with shipping & handling included.... total cost for 4 tires approx $900 including the "club Touareg" discount. Then you have to find a local installer/balancer.... you should not pay more than $50 total for all that, mounting balancing, etc... thats $50 for all 4 tires. So all in all $950 going this route. One thing to consider is that this $50 tire mounting doesn't include free mounting/balancing for life. Of course, these are off-season prices. Just wanted to contribute to all the helpful info I've gotten on this board. Now the fun part, I can't wait to try out my new Nokians on the Beast !

It must be new tire time! I have a new set arriving on Friday and can’t wait to take the run up the mountain road to my house.

Can anyone with Nokians put a picture up? The picture on the Nokian website is not very good, want to see them in real Touareg life. Thanks!
They work great for me here in UT and I use my Treg to get me up the mountain to the ski resort so I am sure you will get around just fine in NY. I also used them to do the Rally in CO this year as well and they worked just fine.

Just put the Nokians on this weekend - on my 120 mile ride home this morning they seem as good as everyone had indicated.

Question - - the tire installer indicated that the Nokian WR is strictly a SNOW TIRE (the WR means Winter Radial). Is this true? Seems like it was advertised as an all season tire??... I really do not want to purchase another set for next summer. Any thoughts here are appreciated.
