I used to ride bikes (for 23 years in total), but stopped after totaling my Yamaha R1 2002 model at a high speed right hand corner the Spa track in Belgium some 5 years ago.

I started with a Honda VFR 750, and then a Honda VFR 800, and a Kawasaki ZX9R and a 2000 Yamaha R1 and the last one also a Yamaha R1 2002 mod.

I did track days all over Europe, but the favorite one was the Nurburgring Nordsleife. Here is one lap for several years ago (loads of good memories):

Zombie thread! I ride currently a 2010 Kawasaki Concours. Love it. But now that i have a Touareg i may get a smaller sportier bike and trailer to the best riding places. I have had a lot of different bikes over the years. Loved my ZX11s and my Hurricane 1000 the most. The Connie is for me the perfect "only" bike. Daily commutes with stuff, weekend rides, longer trips. But i long for a lighter ride one i get up to the mountains in Arkansas for example.

Depends... '99 Kawi ZRX is my daily. '98 Ducati ST2 for longer trips. '93 Honda VFR400 for the twisty stuff and a '92 Ducati 851 which will forever be in my stable because it's unlike any other bike I've ridden.

been riding since '86. Since then there hasn't been 3 months that there wasn't at least one bike in the garage/driveway.

currently down to just a fatboy.

Little bit of engine work, lowered, jockey shift and just put spokes on a couple weeks ago

I ride a 2001 RC51 (VTR-SP1), I love it! (it is very thirsty, I'm usually the first to make a gas stop! My wife isn't very pleased of this, but she likes it also because it's red, her favorite vehicle color)

Honda VFR400
I love that bike, around here is so underrated, it is so light and overall it's an engineering wonder.
I was so close to buying one...

I have owned five bikes in my time:

  1. 1967 Honda CB125 (as I recall)
    Bought super cheap
Used as a pasture beatin' bike
I don't know where it actually ended up ???
  2. 1981 Yamaha XS400
    Bought new
    My first real street bike
Ultimately, bike was torn down, and the motor used for this:
    Custom built by mostly me
    Single seater sandcar

  3. 1991 - 2000
Quit riding, settled down, got married, had kids, etc...
  4. 1986 Suzuki GS 550L
Pre-mid-life crisis, had to have another bike
Salvage bike, bought in 2000 with only 1200 original miles
Bike really only had cosmetic damage, and when it ran, it ran really good.
It was the squirreliest bike to ride, however, I never really felt comfortable on it
  5. 2005 Suzuki DRZ400S
Friend convinced me to get a dual sport, so that I could try dirt bike riding, and if I didn't like it, I still had a road bike
If I'd known dirt bike riding was so much fun, I would have owned one of these before now!
Indestructible bike, but VERY VERY heavy, and would wear you out on long dirt bike rides in technical stuff
Only owned for about one year
  6. 2014 KTM 500 EXC
Instantly shed 40+ pounds when moving to this bike
    Suspension is better
    Power is better
    Control is better
This bike is the perfect road / dirt bike
For me about 90/10 road/dirt, but when I'm on the dirt, it's Colorado single track and the like
Here's a pic of the day that she came home (hasn't looked this good since!):
