v6 tdi,

Hi Matthew@f,

Good choice, Bob's R5 TDI did very well on the trip to Cameron Corner, it produced about 10l/100km towing and had no problems staying in front. Singh's did approx 13 on PULP and my V10 TDI about 15.3, however Singh may correct me on the fuel usage.

The later V6 TDI should be better, smoother and more fuel efficient, V6 engines balance up well and they are a lighter all aluminum block.

What options are you looking at, if you don't mind me asking?

I may be able to provide some feedback on some of the options.

Are you also looking at using it offroad or will you mainly hit the blacktop?

Regards

Gerald

P.S. good luck selling it.

gerald i use it for off road at times when towing the boat, we often launch from river banks which requires 4wd to pull the load out, sometimes we link two together and snatch the lot out.

primary use is a comfy cruiser on freeway or bells line of road.
shock horror may even look at the porsche v6 although will be hard to steer away from the tdi.

Matthew,

A number of options I would pick again without question:-

Dual battery system
Sun roof
Air suspension
Centre & rear Diff locks
Suitable rim size, 17 inch max, mayby 18
Saltlake grey, or any grey colour

However, at the end of the day, any option is an individual thing, but each has it's purpose especially when travelling.

I am happy to assist in providing a detailed reason for each.

As for towing, the V6 TDi I am sure will do the job well, however when I looked at the R5 and compared it to the V10, they were miles apart in every respect, especially towing, their comfort and ability.

Sorry, but I just don't like the look of the Porsche V6 or not.

Regards

thanks gerald, guessing it will be sl grey unless the my08 has other new colors.

17" wheels and maybe diff lock.

when is the my08 in show rooms??

Hi Matthew,

Although initially 19" rims were a pain in the XXXX, however there are tyres on the market now that suit my taste and driving requirements.

my orignal 19" tyres lasted 12,500km, I took it back to VW with a well drafted technical letter why no tyre should be almost bold at 13k. they insisted replacing them with another set recommended by VW, when I told them I would be back at 25K for another set. I proposed the Goodyear 19" MT\R's, now I am at 53K and they are just over halfway, payed for by VW.

Something I did forget to mention, with the V10 you do get massive disk calipers, their stopping ability when towing is without question, fantastic.

If I was looking at a V6TDi, I would pick 18" with V10 calipers, 18" tyres are now popular since Disco 3's, so their is a good assortment of decent tyres around.

Another 2 bob worth of useless info!

Regards

Gerald

Hi Mattewf

I was told last week that the new MY08 will be available from Aug 07. Specs look very good, and you can find a fair bit of info on Euro websites. Quite a lot of new features coming available.

Good luck

used carsales.com with very good stats on visits etc... dont know how 'real' they are.. a car broker suggested this as wholesale for the r5 was $36k!!!

Well done!
It is good to know it worked for you. I hope you convinced the new owner that membership of this site, as well as getting it dirty are compulsory!

What do you have to do now for 4 months to avoid the need to downgrade your driving experience? We want no more talk of "other makes"!

good luck, whatever you decide to do...
