Oil Change at VW....8,000km ? Synthetic ?

There is no count down to service indicator so would the dealer really know if you have waited 20,000km between oil changes ?

What does your Owner's Manual stipulate as the oil change interval? That is the interval you should follow, not what your dealer "recommends".

Bear in mind, here in the US, the first oil change for the Touareg is at 5,000 miles (8,000 km), the second is at 10,000 miles (16,000 km), but all subsequent oil changes are at 10,000 mile (16,000 km) intervals.

If you have a gasoline engine, then you do not require 505 spec oil. 502 spec is what VW recommends. You are just wasting money using the more expensive 505 spec oil.

in aus we are 15,000km for fixed service intervals for all egg petrol and diesel engines.. if you drive hard or dirt roads all the time reduce this to 10,000km..

There is a new TSB on VW approved Motor Oils,17 06 01 Dated Sept. 12,2006, supersedes 17 05-04 dated August 26,2005,also posted on VW.comand VW.ca. Marty

if you want the car to last, do it every 5k miles. The Motul oil your using is the best. Your doing a good job.
