Well I think this requires some clarification, and please keep comments like this to yourself sir.
This control module does the following:
1. Interfaces with trucks CANBUS system and is already fused with 2-3 30amp fuses in the pass side fuse box
2. It will allow you to use the built in connector under the front dash to which you could wire a brake controller of your choice eg. Trekonsha p3
3. It will monitor your trailer for burnt bulbs
4. It will adjust ESP sensitivity for trailer swaying behaviour
5. It will alter transmission shifting points when towing
6. It will protect against theft, should trailer be disconnected when alarm is on it will be triggered.
These are only few points I know, I'm sure there are more.
I will say again if you don't know what you're talking about don't pollute other poster's threads. This is a for-sale thread if you have any comments post them in the general discussion.
Thank you
For what it's worth, I ordered this part for $29 from my dealer, as listed on the OEM VW parts site. I have a 2007 V10 and it already had this part -- little did I realize. We have the factory hitch, but this is just the relay control module, not a proportional brake controller.
You'll still need a brake controller and wire harness; this is a control module for the brake lights. I chased after this for over a year -- a mythic rare VW OEM brake controller. It doesn't exist.
I bought a Tekonsha Prodigy P3 (proportional brake controller for up to four axles) and we're installing it next week. You'll still need this part as a piece to install to complete the solution, but don't spend more than $29 on it; your local VW dealer can order one for you.
