I'm interested in chipping my V10, however, here in the US there seems to be no one that has bothered with this engine. :anger: I see that at least one person in Europe has chipped his engine  has anyone else? I contacted a "Superchips" UK rep in Chicago which told me that it was in R&D in Birmingham England, the Superchip home base and then told me that it would be a custom ECU file replacement. Anyone have any experience or info with this?

I had thought of chip tuning mine. But, it would be
unwise as this is a very complex and rare engine. Most dealers
have only sold one or two of these cars, so I doubt there
is any experienced service department in the US to handle problems.

Here is what changed my mind: My V10 has been suffering from
progressively lower power and vibration at speed. I had to take
it in to the dealer because I could barely maintain highway speed.
It has been in the shop for three weeks now. They still aren't
sure what the problem is and I know they aren't happy with
having to supply me with a brand new Touareg rental at their cost.

Here is the problems they blamed it on so far:
1. clogged air intake with leaves and water
2. then they said it was a bad boost pressure sensor(they replaced it)
3. then they said the turbocharger was broken
4. then they said it was the MAF
5. then they said it was a fuel supply problem
6. then they said it was a bad fuel pump
7. we are now waiting for one to arrive from Austria.
Once this is replaced there is no guarentee that the car still
won't work right, then it will be on to problem #8, #9, ...

If I had chip-tuned this car, I guarentee you they would
have screwed me and said all the problems were caused by me tampering with the engine.

Chip tuning a V10TDI? no thanks, it makes more than
enough power already. Don't risk it.

go to http://www.tunit.com.au/

you need to fit two units, easy fit, just plugs right in to existing vw plugs, 1 min to remove if you really think you need to..

4x4 motoring magazines over here have tested these and found no troubles, they also interviewed manufacturers.. got the thunbs up and they loved the hp increase.

if you are really keen ring the guys on the web site above, they are diesel gurus and being aussies will tell it as it is

Rich, sorry to hear your having trouble with yours. Matthewf, thanks for the info on the Tunit. Looks interesting and possibly proven. I'll look into it somemore. As for enough power, there is no such thing! :evil_laugh:

dusty dog I am told the tunit chip really unleashes the engine, makes it feel like a V10 should!!!! spend the coin and ring the guys, with the exchange rate it will work out well price wise... they are also sold in the uk...

Thanks! Great! Do you think if I stack several of them in series I can add up the gains? :evil_laugh:

Look here

Dust_dog try looking at Dynocomp.com I have spoken with Ken a couple of times about the ECM flash for the V10. His upgrade is the only, or one of the few that have been developed for a US. spec v10. The euro spec V10 ECM flash wil not work on our V10. As for a tuning box beware it's a 5+ hour install and I have yet to find one in use on a US spec V10. I have read that on some of the other VW EDC16 TDI's that the ECM would figure out the tuning box and revert back to stock. As I am learning the V10 is a highly complex engine with very little known about how it operates.

I'll be careful. I'm not into experimentation (at least not with this vehicle) :giggle: If I can't find a solution that's proven, then I won't do anything.

Unfortunately, it appears that your comment is probably right. Even more unfortunate, it appears to apply to VW service as well. :chainsaw:

It's been awhile since I started this thread and it was buried so I thought I would ask again. Has anyone in the US sucessfully "Chipped" a V10 yet?
