Hey y'all,

Unfortunately, I am joining in the hopes of re-homing my T-Reg. Some financial concerns have caused the sale of my baby. I have read the classified FAQ and understand the appropriate requirements for a classified add, but I had some questions to throw around first. What is the best forum to discuss the potential value of my vehicle before posting a "formal" add?

I have a 2006 V10 TDI with 63,000 miles. It has an extended warranty and has been serviced on schedule at a licensed VW dealer its entire life.

I hope to someday own this vehicle again, but right now I feel this would be a good place to start to evaluate its value and find it a new home.

I'm open to all suggestions and will answers questions ASAP.

Thanks again,

Bummer you gotta sell it. I've seen them sell for anywhere between 20k and 30k depending on mileage and options with 25k being what KBB would probably say.

What color exterior and interior and what options does it have?

It's white with beige interior. It has all the options including the locking differential. 4 way heated seats and climate control, sunroof, truly the full package.
I'll just post the VIN and get it out of the way.

So, now that you have looked at the CarFax (if not I can provide) it does have two accidents. The 1st was at 5,427 by the previous owner. I don't have much information besides it didn't deploy airbags and it was fixed (duh!). The 2nd was when I was driving and was hit by another driver. It damaged the driver door. All damaged components where replaced with new VW parts. I have a good relationship with the body shop, and no parts where repaired or fixed, just replaced.

So how does this affect my value? The CarFax said the it is valued $410 above the retail value....
But, when I tried to get a BuyBid or trade-in value from my local VW dealer they immediately attacked the car as "having a bad CarFax!". They have not even given me a low-ball offer.

So, I turn to the internet.
Before I formally list it in the classified section I want to know what you think???

To me the car is still worth the KBB value, accidents or not. It even has new Nitto Terra Grapplers A/T and all brakes done! Rotors and calipers! I have all these records and all records since I've owned it.

So..... whaddaya think?

Thanks in advance.

I think the dealer low-balling you makes complete sense. I wouldn't buy any car with two accidents from a dealership unless it was a sweet deal. They can't explain the accidents the way you can and would just say, "trust me, this thing is in perfect shape." To which I would promptly tell them to... show me something else. ;-)

That said, if I was buying from a private seller and I was able to see the records for repair and get a good explanation of the accidents and I really wanted to get my hands on a rare vehicle like a V10 Touareg, then I would be more apt to approach true blue book value. I wish you luck with your sale and think you should price it at or near blue book as they don't come up often here in CO; when they do, they don't last and almost never have such low mileage so I don't think you'll have any problem selling it. You are very up front about its history which will be reassuring to any buyer.

Think of it this way. Most people don't know what a Touareg is all about let alone that the V10 TDI exists. The person who comes to look at it will know what they are dealing with and probably won't have to ask many questions as they know the deal and the rarity of your vehicle; they just have to know that its "history" won't affect their ownership experience. You aren't selling them anything per se, just offering them a chance to have your car as their own.

Oh, and a pre-purchase inspection of your car would really aid your case that this Touareg is seaworthy. I know of a Audi/VW/Porsche specialist (who also has two V10 Touaregs) who usually does them for free if you PM me.
