Has anyone experienced problem with their parking break giving some resistance when pressing it down? My T1 has been giving occassional resistance as if the pedal will snap if I go to press the brake down with my foot with normal force. It still clicks and engages the parking brake, but it's slightly disturbing. I have been conscious of this and now press down slower than I usually do and it doesn't give resistance, but still haven't experienced this until last week. Perhaps cold affects the pedal? My hydraulic was replaced in the spring, so it's brand new.

I'd change the hydraulic damper under the parking brake pedal. It's about $20-30 and takes about 10 minutes tops.

Damper . . . piston - we're talking the same thing so if it has been changed, ignore!

I doubt it - just make a mess on your carpet.

I'm wondering if you should service the parking brake shoes.

I'll look into it with my indie mechanic. You may have hit the nail on the head though me thinks its the piston itself jamming; because there is a split second wiggle present (like something losing balance on a stick) when the brake tries to go down. Then the cylinder slides inside the piston, and the brake click click click click clicks and works fine.

5 clicks is good if that is the exact number you hear! More than 8, not so good!!

I'd forgotten that fix. Nice bit of lateral thinking.
