So as I was drying my 'egg off tonight I noticed something. On the back edge of the roof, there was this very small chip in the paint

And as I'm thinking "how in the world did that happen" it occurred to me...

The wire wraps are rubbing that edge and have worn a hole in the paint. Now my question is what should be done about it?

Here is a picture of my T2. The wire is encased in the black plastic housing behind the support bracket.

Ah, so it would appear someone's been doing something in there and got lazy. That's good to know though it didn't look like there was room for the wire in there. Thanks!

There is room for it in there. It was designed to go in there because the T2 is flawless :)

Ok this brought back memories....I had something in common with the OP, TheHud85 here.

After I had a rear view camera installed, along with my AppRadio2 and rear subwoofer, installed at those "professional shops", they didn't take the time to re-instrall the wiring back into the housing, and clip the rear door back in place. Thankfully I caught it on time before any damage on the paint occurred.

Ah, memoooriiiies....

Update: so I've got the cover off, and this is what I found.

The main harness for the liftgate runs through that cover. There's not room behind it, I tried stuffing the wire in there and putting the cover back on but it wouldn't snap. So, now what? Lol

Also: I have considered cutting off the plastic tubing, but I'm afraid that 1. The wire will get worn and break, and 2. I'm afraid of cutting something inside trying to remove it.

I'll take a closer look tomorrow when it's light out and see what I find.

Yeah it's tight, but use the force, it will eventually snap back into place.

I had the same problem, in fact after the first whole afternoon, I gave up, and used black electrical tape to keep it tucked in.

About a week later, perhaps even 2, it began to eat away at me, and I had a rematch, and won.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Another thought that occurred to me was there was only a cover on one side, but at the same time the way that tubing rubs and gets pinched there's no way there'd be room for another cover... This ones got me stumped. Perry, do you have a back-up camera?

Yes I have the factory back up camera

Ok, there is no possible way to get the tubed wire behind the main harness. It will not move behind due to the way it's routed and I assume zip tied to the other harness. However, when I first started the wire was wedged behind the hinge, now that it sits in front of the other harness it does not seem to rub nearly as hard nor pinch as bad when the gate is up. I suppose it's worth a shot

The plastic tubing is the supply line (fluid) for the rear washer/wiper.
So I guess it's a good thing I didn't cut it LOL. I suppose if moving it didn't help I'll just have to spend the rest of our days together touching up that spot. My 'egg is such a troublemaker... She's really earning her name... I still love her though.

My T1 did the same thing. Re-wrap, add a felt dot and hit that area with a bit of touch up.

Unfortunately, I learned its function from experience. It took me a few days to determine the source of the "water leak" around the rear hatch. The good news is 1/4" low pressure irrigation fittings from Home Depot make for a cheap and easy repair.
