Whats your avg mpg? Get a diesel

Thats about all you can get from that V8

It would be helpful to know what you are getting and what you hope to get.
Check Fuelly to see what other people's real world experiences are.

In my experience a early gently driven V8 can hope to get 15-17mpg combined cty/hwy.
Problem is that the V8 doesn't lend itself to being driven lightly. It sucks you in to have fun and drive hard.

When I discontinued mine as a daily driver I had 14.1 long term. That was driven probably slightly harder than normal.
These days my father drives it most often and he regularly gets between 8-9mpg. Heavy foot and 95% in town.

You can check your linkage control arms and vacuum pods, if you have a problem there it can ding the MPG pretty quickly.

Another option to explore would be tuning the ECU. Most do it for performance gains, but some actually do use the economy mode of the tune to eek out better mileage numbers.

Stick an egg under the accelerator pedal, and don't break it. That'll curb the gas sucking nature of that big displacement motor and stuffing your foot into it.

You've bought a 2.5 ton, four wheel drive brick powered by over 4 litres of V8 which will guzzle gas down its throat at one pint every 2 miles . . . if you're lucky.

Sorry, but if you wanted fuel economy you bought the wrong car.
