There are all sorts of little things the Touareg has up its sleeve some of which are never discovered by owners until they sell to someone who has done his homework [both on here and at www.mytreg.com where these are all covered in previous threads] and, for example, opens the glass section of the tailgate to the amazement of the selling owner!

Your best bet is to spend a few hours trawling these sites and reading your handbook to get yourself up to speed and then, if still in doubt about specifics, ask.

Top of the list is using the correct oil for your car to avoid major engine rebuilds at US$15-20,000. Yes, you've just bought a supercar than can run up super bills!

Second is get and keep a good warranty!

This is a good generic thread to read through even if you have already bought the car:

After almost 5 years of owning a touareg I found yesterday that I can release the fuel door manualy if the switch on the drivers door doesn't work. My point is, you'll allways find something new in your treg, esspecially the R50 you bought which is fully loaded.

I take it you know you can manually release the T1 tailgate too from a plastic pull inside one of the the tailgate rear lights?

And that T1 Touaregs with a sun roof have a manual winder tool clipped inside the top of the glove box.

Yes I do nooby, very good stuf. Found the tool the first day, and tried every bolt to find out what for is it and then while cleaning the sun roof area found that.. Very smart :)
