Just turned over 4000 miles. I get about 28-29 mpg hwy with cruise set at 75. I am averaging about 26 mpg overall. Most of my mileage is Interstate and suburbs, very little city. I am blown away by my fuel mileage.

FWIW, I (my wife actually) is averaging about low 30's in our 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid. That is not a lot of difference in my mind for so much more power and luxury in the VW.

A few weeks ago i reset the avg speed,consumption etc and was lighter on the gas pedal since than, covered 2300 miles the average was 7.3 Liters or round 32-33 mpg if I calculated it well.. I believe the computer lies a bit, by my calculations it was about 8L or about 29..

I just got my first tank of diesel since purchasing my TDI. Got 24.4 mpg with about 80% city driving. Very pleased! But it's also the first time I ever spent $89.00 at the pump!

I photographed the occasion with my helper Sparky.

Force of drag for high speed turbulent flow:
Fd = ½ρv²ACd

The power required to overcome the aerodynamic drag is given by:
Pd = ½ρv³ACd

Pd = 1/2 pv3acd is complete crap. Sticker doesn't say "mpg depends on drag co-efficient. WAKE UP TDI users, VWofAm is pumping BS all over u on mpg. Simple as that.

The Korean auto group Hyundai, Kia has recently been found by US authorities guilty of deceiving owners of their cars of mpg mileage fraud. They will now pay owners back pay for mileage they didn't get. Google it. VOAM is guilty of the same. :D

There are gas stations around here that will only allow $80 fill ups then you have to start over... PITA! I still have ~200 miles I can go!

Come in Montenegro, and you'll pay 180$.. :)

Speed kills the MPG in the Treg. I have found that 55-60 mph yields the best MPG. It starts falling off significantly faster than that. For example, I can get 30 mpg but average speed with be between 60-65. If I average 75mph , my mpg will go down to around 26-27.
What does the sticker say the "28 mpg highway" is based on mph wise? My guess is 55 mpg. Interstate Highway speed round here, eastern Kansas, I-70 is avg 75 .. Drive less than that at rush hour n u got big rigs in ur rear view, danger close. :D

I couldn't care less what the sticker writes. Perhaps it is BS...perhaps it is not. I never looked into it.

One thing I do know is, that sticker is NOT based traveling at 75mph, as many in this thread have openly admitted to.

Physics never lies when it comes to man made machinery.

Ok, one of you clever guys can convert to mpg. I just drove over 5300km (over 6 days) in the V10, towing a 1000kg dual axle trailer. av speed = 100km/hr, av consumption = 14.7litres/100km. Just for interest sake, the temperature was between 40- and 45 deg C every day! The oil- and water temps did not move out of their normal zone. The V10 has done just over 140 000km now and I am extremely happy with it. Tomorrow it is going on a barge to the northern most point of the Australian continent.

I forgot to mention, my odo under reads by 4km/100km. Therefore the corrected consumption is 14.1l/100km.

The average speed in the EPA highway test is 45 mph.

At 45 I will easily get 28mpg. 2010 3.0V6 TDI with 40k miles and almost every tank averages between 25 - 26 since new. Mostly highway (75mph) and suburbs.
My real problem is I'm angry with my self for believing a 5k lb car would get 28 mpg n the real world, at real world speeds, (USA that's where I drive) so it becomes a moot point as to whether 28 mpg as stated by VOA is real or not. I say it's snot! :D

I, too, average 25-26mpg with about 60% highway. I drive 70-75mph. Got over 17k miles. Happy with it.

crap fuel will net you crap MPG. Good fuel will net you this.. Mind you this is not tank average but TRIP average. Best tank average was 6.3 litres on 100 km.

really good fuel will net you THIS, same trip in video above. Traveling approx 90-100 km/hr.
