Did the wheel bore of Touareg change between 2010 and 2011?

I bought a set of 18" 2011 Tacora 18" wheels for my 2010 Touareg. I go to get my new tires put on today and they don't fit over the hub.

Any insight? I was so pissed. I waited 2-3 for the wheels and then a week for tires.

Too much paint on the bore? A bit of corrosion on the hubs?? Stock VW Touareg wheels are interchangeable.

That is what I thought, but it seems tighter then just paint. They are factory reconditioned but they look brand new. The discount tire service guy tried a few wheels on the same hub but they wouldn't fit.

I am not home yet, but I will measure exactly what I have when I get home. I am pretty unhappy right now.

That was my next thought. I am going to pull off a rear wheel this morning and see if they fit. The numbers on the wheels correspond to the "tacora" wheel on the myturbodiesel wheel page. # 7P6 601 025 B. I am leaning towards the paint being slightly too thick since they almost fit. That would be really tight tolerances, though.
!
I also have a call into the remanufactured OEM wheel company. I got them off EBAY, from Detroit Wheel and tire. They look really nice, I will see if maybe it is the one hub we tried yesterday. I don't want to scrape paint off then inner wheel to see if that is the issue until I talk to the company I bought them from.

The only reason I think it isn't my hub as the problem, is that my stock 20's" have no issue coming on and off that hub we tried. I will try a rear wheel in the next 2 hours.

I just got a call from Detroit Wheel. He thinks the paint is the issue. He says there is zero tolerance on these wheels, and paint should be the issue. I pray it is. He told me to sand down the inside of the wheels. I am going to pull off a rear wheel this morning, and check that hub, and then sand down the wheel inside bore and see if they work after that.

Ah, so they are reconditioned by an aftermarket company, not factory reconsitioned. No worries it'll be paint build up in the bore!

If you haven't done so, use some copper grease on the mating faces to be sure you can get the wheels back off easily in gthe event of a roadside punture or maintenance later.

When you've seen how hard it can be to release a wheel even at the hands of an experienced fitter, you'll always use a dab or two of copper grease! Just keep it well away from the rotors!!!
