Hey guys, been lurking in here the past couple weeks as I made my decision to buy and finally bought last week. Traded in my Mazda 3 and Nissan Frontier, thought I'd miss driving my 3 but a weekend trip quickly extinguished that. Been searching everything about the car from possible problems to keeping it clean. Happy to report that my dealership is actually trying to get me access to convenience opening on the fob with VAGCOM. Reading the manual and having it actually work once would have bugged the crap out of me if it wasn't working but I came on here to find out a fix and you guys provided. Look forward to learning more from you guys and hopefully sometime I'll have knowledge to pass on to another owner.

Welcome!

If you see an approaching Touareg identical to yours (or slightly better than yours:D) – please beware that this is not a mirage or reflection in a mirror – this is a real vehicle and I am driving it. So, let us avoid a collision, smile and wave to each other! As far as I am concerned - you can skip posting pictures.

P.S. I’m from MN. Where are you from? I want to make sure that there will be no mirages where I am driving…

Upstate NY, just outside of Albany. Loving the color of the Touareg, and to think I almost went Canyon Grey. Thanks for the welcome, loving the site so far as I like to do my research. Not as active as the Mazda3forums but probably has a lot to do with price of the car. Looking forward to making some new Touareg friends.

Awesome, I've already made some friends. LOtouareg are you from Oregon or Upstate NY as well? We have an Oswego here as well a couple hours away, but I saw the OR. Phoenx, Monroe is a couple hours south of me.

Anyone know someone with VAGCOM in the area? I'm just looking to get the convenience opening for the FOB and wandering what else I can unlock in the RNS 850.

Yeah I'm in Oregon. I've heard of Oswego, NY though.

You can look through here to find a vag com in your area:

Nickm is one of our moderators and in the first post he says he's in upstate NY.
Yeah unfortunately that website is no longer good. Apparently they were hacked and didn't back up the database. Thanks for the heads up on Nickm. My dealer said there is a guy that stops in every once and awhile that has it, I'll see if he can't get me in touch with the guy.

Hey Welcome Shiftdnb!

I'd like to welcome you to Club Touareg too and look forward to meeting up with you on the road. Unfortunately, my new Touareg isn't nearly as nice as CC's either, so I won't be quite as forward as he is.

Thanks, I've been searching for Touareg drivers here in the area and so far just glimpsed one. I'm liking the fact I don't see a million of them out on the road like the Lexus and Toyota SUVs I was looking at.

Ohh, thought you were pointing to the link in the Locater thread. Although, it specifically says not to ask for VAGCOM in our locale, but I'm assuming that's void now the database is no longer.
It says to not ask for it in that link, you can look through the whole thread to find someone in there that may be close to you.
