The saga continues....yesterday the dealership called me to let me know that the parts came in early. I dropped the Touareg off early this morning and was told that it will be ready this afternoon. They gave me a Chevy Captiva for a rental for the day. It is a small poor excuse for an SUV with a 2.2L engine that makes me feel like I'm driving a golf cart. They just called me a little while ago to let me know that I will not be getting back today. When they were taking it apart the tech broke a plastic clip and they do not have another one in stock to replace it with. They ordered it overnight and it should be done tomorrow. I have about had it with the whole thing.

Bummer, at least they are being honest with you about breaking the clip, I doubt they are very happy about it either and really want you to have your car back. I am trying not to think about not having my nice new car to drive. I think the hardest part is the lack of communication ability, spoiled by blue tooth.
We own a manufacturing company and are creating new systems for manufactures all the time, things go don't always work the way they're suppose to, faulty pumps, motors etc, it is how we deal with it that makes our customers believe in us and our product.

Sounds like they owe you some Compensation...
They give you a 15k car to drive while your 50k car is in the shop? Unacceptable
Get them to throw in something like a full detail or something

Just got a call from the dealer and they told me that the part needed is an EGR Cooler. They said that I can pick up my car and drive it for 2-3 weeks until the part arrives. They said that it is not harmful or unsafe to drive the vehicle like this. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Michael
Yeah right,

Tell the hundreds of thousands of the 6.0L Ford Powerstroke guys that an EGR cooler is not a big deal. While I agree for a short time it is probably not a big deal long term a horrible idea.

After the dealers replace the part how long does it last? Has anyone gone back more than once for the same problem? Is it a mechanical failure or an electronic component failure?

Update - They found the part and ordered it today on "red" expedited order , yada yada...bottom line if everything goes to plan they get the part on Monday and get it done by EOD Monday which means I would have been without the car for a week!!! Exec Care is actually pretty nice and trying but the most interesting part was that supposedly VW is not aware of many people having this issue!!! STRANGE.

Where the hell is the icon with the little guy waving a "bullsh*t" flag. Someone needs to make one. VW has known about this problem I have seen it on other websites. It just easier to act stupid rather than know what there talking about. I'm happy to hear you only had to wait a week.

VW are ""not" aware of an awful lot!

Hey VW worldwide - you're a bunch of lying bastards!

lots of Love

Update: Got my Touareg on Monday. Everything is running well. Executive care is sending a gift card for $150. Woohoo!! One week without car is worth $150!!

I remember when I had an issue with my ML430 in 2000, the dealer was 1.5 hours away in Spokane and they would bring me a loaner ML drop it off at my driveway, take my car, do the oil change and return it at the end of the day. That was for an OIL CHANGE!!! Not happy! Will keep you posted is any problem returns.

Once they fixed my Touareg I haven't had a problem. This thing runs perfectly and has since I got it back. I have put on about 1,000 miles and it's perfect. I understand things happen but I was very unhappy with the way the dealership handled things. Once I spoke to them a few times they were excellent. They even gave me a check to make my first payment and put the 7 pin connector for towing on for free. I feel like they went out of there way to make me happy. Unfortunately it was at the end but either way I was satisfied.

Not sure they will like me as much when I cancel my extended warranty.

I was told last week that VW may be recalling the 11 and 12 eggs for a new fix on the Ad blue system in June. You can read all about it in the thread "blue tech system issues" on this forum.

Yes, I can't believe what I'm reading! There must be pages and pages of similar issues. The big question is why has VW not done anything about it? It’s a known issue why not act on it. It seems as of now they are just handling it on a case by case basis vs. having a glut of people come in and have the necessary repairs/fix done!

I’m new to this Urea/AdBlue additive for the diesel fuel. My previous diesel did not use it. It was pump and run, end of story. But I’m hearing all kinds of back lash from those that are, and it’s not only VW owners! When we bought the Touareg at no time did anyone say anything about the AdBlue additive. Who can pour it? Dealer only, customer only, both? Who pays for it when you bring it in for the FREE service? Can I buy it over the counter or does it require an EPA Certified Pourer?

We bought this vehicle for the soul purpose of running the roads as my wife drives on average of 4K per month. Also to tow our jet skis vs. buying a huge SUV which we had before buying the VW. When my wife came home last night she was hysterical that the engine light was on. We called the selling dealer and drove it up for service. The sales guy was all over it. I was just plain numb over the entire thing. 500 miles on it and the check engine light is on already. The service tech said they had to call VW tech support to get a reading. From what I’m reading on this forum this is going to be the tip of the iceberg and I should start documenting the downtime of the vehicle.
