i kept messaging and got another reply from smartauto24:

"Yes it's because of the the system does not compatible with stock amp, there is no audio after installation, otherwise to have the wires modified professionally, but this way the unit is not plug and play.

We hope this response has sufficiently answered your questions. If not, please do not send another email. Instead, reply to this email or login to your account for a complete archive of all your support requests and responses."

if thats the only issue then i dont think its much of an issue to rewire for an analog amp, thought i can understand the issues with the digital one.

I just ordered a head unit for my 2005 Touareg with Delta radio. After emailing their support team with a question, I got a nice, prompt reply informing me that they were out of stock on the head unit I was looking at, with a link pointing me to this head unit. They also said that both SD card slots (which I can't see in the pictures, which is a little worrisome) support SDHC. I also ordered the ATSC TV tuner module and the wired Sony sensor camera. They also confirmed that this head unit works with the current iPhone and iPad. They also have a user manual in English now, as well as an English menu system. A note on their website says that if you ordered before September 2011, contact them for the English patch (if you haven't already.)

I'll update the thread with my experiences.
The sd card slots are actually behind the buttons for SD and GPS, they flip back to install the cards, they may Micro slots.

I just ordered from smartauto24 the vw8942z, hope i did the right thing since my Treg is european version, i don't know if there's any difference but they told me the unit will be "plug and play", i actually called them just to make sure of this, that could be one of the most frustrating things i've done, calling hongKong and speaking english with the support personel, wow that was difficult specially with the 12 hour difference, this people start working at 10, thing is they mentioned that vw8110 is the better option for us customers (i live in DR) the differences are a few, but they told me both would do the job.
Funny they mentioned also that if i'm not electronically inclined i should take it to a shop to install it.

Wish me luck!!! I'll keep you posted with results and pictures.

GPS screen is freezing

I just bought a 2006 Touareg. It did not have a GPS unit installed.

I found a used GPS unit from a 2005 Touareg on Ebay. Bought it. Installed it. Everything works. But....

1) The GPS screen freezes after 30 seconds. When I tap the screen, it takes me to one of its menus. I tap "Cancel" and it returns me to the screen that was frozen. Magically, the screen works again for about 30-45 seconds, then freezes. I keep repeating these steps to make it work, but need to know how to keep it from freezing....

2) I bought new Map disks and am waiting for their arrival. Will this help?

3) Do I need the twin FAKRA connectors? The GPS unit I installed only had (1) antenna connection. Everything works, but the sound quality is not as good as the factory installed radio.

stereo completely quitting

Hey guys, I bought the vw8110 stereo/nav from smartauto24 about a month ago. I hooked it up and everything seemed to be working great. After a little bit of time the unit just stopped working. After disconnecting all the cables and reconnecting the unit worked perfectly again. It since stopped working two more times including this morning.

I have a base 2009 Touareg without the factory amp or navigation. Just had the simple original cd players. From reading this thread I really thought my year and model Touareg was what they designed this stereo for as I've seen older Touareg owners having more problem.

Anyway, I contacted smartauto24 and Sam and Tomi told me they though the problem was that I needed to connect the acc wire. They said the stereo wouldn't work unless the car was running without that connected. That doesn't make sense though. When the unit is working the car doesn't have to be running for the stereo to work.

Any ideas of what the problem is?

Thanks,

Garrett

Does anyone have info regarding the following?

I'm new to the board and have tried to read as many posts as possible. I have a 2005 cd nav touareg and I'm trying to upgrade.

Does anyone know anything about the following unit:

T7769G Car DVD Player with Built in GPS,Bluetooth,Ipod,RDS,SWC for Volkswagen Touareg 2006-2009 - Tradesolution HK Ltd.

In emails back and forth through ebay - the seller is telling me that it works fully w/ a 2005 and has steering wheel control and is plug and play.

Thanks!

Aftermarket sat/nav

Jeez,

After reading 66 pages of info from you all on aftermarket, I think it would be better if i buy a treg with the factory RNS510 installed.

my wife's about to kick me out after spending 6 hours reading all the threads.

Whilst some guys have had good results most have'nt and I am not smart enough (or young enough) to go thru all that trouble shooting, anyone got a low klm facelift 08 v10 with all the fruit for sale in Oz?

MeeToo

I've been browsing this thread with some interest as the OEM system Radio Nav system on my 2004 seems to be dead. if it doesnt come back to life I may take it to a local installer :chainsaw: or CarToys over in the Emerald City and see what aftermarket they suggest. I did see Crutchfield has the Alpine, Pioneer and JVC units. I would rather get something with a domestic warranty than get it from Hong Kong. The thought of spending a grand isnt very appealing though.

Nav Question

Hello All !

Does this unit work in a 2009 V6 with non navigation at this time.

I have been looking around and to install a Clarion(Nav) with all controls for steering wheel would be around ?1500.00. CDN

They have been alot a treads on this item and feedback would be appreciated.
