Hello All!

I have been shopping for a while for a Treg, I finally ended up "rescuing"
one from a seedy little lot here in columbus.

2004 V8, NAV, Air Suspension, power everything, sunroof, acutally I am pretty sure it has every option you can get on it. 63K miles.

Only bad part is that this vehicle was NOT taken care of, I have a laundry list of items to take care of:

new tires, brakes, rotors, brake sensors, interior needs serious cleaning (its beige) headlights, trim pieces here and there, missing floor mat retension pegs, paint peeling bubbles, all kinds of indicators on the MFI.

First things first, got 4 new tires, an alignment, ordered new headlight bulbs and now to work on those MFI indicators!

being that its a second "run around" car and that i got it for less than 9K dollars, i am going to nurse this thing back to health LOL. I will definately be using this Forum ALOT :)

Do you have VAG COM (aka VCDS)? If not go to Rosstec and buy it. In your situation it will be worth it's weight in dealer gold!:D

A Used VAG COM is not likely to be found by the time you really need it.
Spring for the new one and get the latest CAN version, since it will also work on later model Audi/VW beasts.
I did so and use it on my Avant and the ''new" A3 in our garage.

I wish you luck on your new purchase. I hope you found yourself a smashing deal, but it has to be said, a super low $9000 purchase can easily turn into a $13000 one in a blink of an eye, and a $20000 one by the time you say oh__my__God.

Oh wait, you don't have a V10, my bad :), so deduct a few of that $20000 figure. Of course I'm taking worst case scenarios here, I don't mean to come across as pessimistic, but I'm hoping that those who are into bargain shopping realize that the Touareg is not a bang for the buck mobile, and it never will be. That all said, if you are a pure DIY diehard, knowing what to expect, and are ready and primed for all this, then by all means welcome to the club!

Believe me, I am still skeptical about my purchase at that price, however, i have had two different mechanics go over it front to back and just cannot find anything wrong with it other than cosmetic or basic things like tires and brakes.

I know the maintenance is high and i am a big DIY, but I LOVE these cars and now that i managed to get one im even more in love lol.

I have already replaced the tires and headlights, although my absolute biggest challenge is going to be getting that headlinder clean :-(
