Sonnax Valve Body Kit

The transmission in the Touareg is made by Aisin model TR-60SN - VW designation 09D. I found a company called Sonnax that makes a kit to address the known 4th,5th gear issues in these transmissions. Please see the attached PDF file. May be cheaper to address the problem than purchase a new valve body for those who have this problem. I'm currently trying to get pricing on the kit through one of their distributors.

Interesting find - someone on ww.mytreg.com has posted today that he just found a UK comapny that reconditions them for less than 40% of dealer cost for a new one -now around £2000 = about $3,600 inc tax.

I dont know how old these forums are but I just wanted to let everyone know that ------- do remanufactures the 09D. Not only do we install Sonnax updates, we also test and replace solenoids as needed. ------ also will put your valve body on a dyno test machine to ensure your product is in working accurate condition. $3,000 seems a little steep for a valve body, why not cut that down 2/3 and you can purchase one from us with a 1 yr warranty.

This is good news, I know a lot of folks have been buying valve bodies directly from VW. What is the turn around time when one is sent in? Do you have any instructions on how to remove the VB for the DIY community here? Also what would an average cost be for a rebuild?

Removed post to the commercial vendor. He is not allowed to post his product here. Hopefully, we can get him to repost in the commercial vendors forum for our members benefit.

Fair enough removing the poster's post, but why not just post the name of the company?

Removing the means to contact them in the hope the vendor might revisit and repost in the right place has merely served to disadvantage Treggers [IM not so HO].

I wouldnt recommend doing it yourself. Theres more to valve bodies than just updating with sonnax valves

What is the price on one of your re-manufactured 09D valve bodies upgraded with the Sonnax kit?

Since reamman can't post here's the info. Complete rebuild of valve body for the 09D is $600. Valve body gets shipped to them first, once received it will be shipped back same day. I haven't heard of any better deals anywhere, or even anyone else who rebuilds these. Looks like a great source for people with valve body issues.

That's a cracking price for anyone whose gearbox is not covered by a warranty.

Add 3 hours max labour, 9 litres of ATF oil at about $110 and some gaskets at about $200.

The valve body is fairly easy to take out. The hardest part would be removing the solenoid cables. ATF is a great oil but Castrol Import is also another option. You shouldnt need to purchase a new gasket since the pan has a reusable one.
